I wake up. I'm hoping that was just a dream. It wasn't. It was real. There's a brace wrapped around my torso. No! No, no, no, no! This can't be happening. I might be done with dance forever. No!
My mom walks in and I just burst into tears.
"Callie, what's wrong hun?"
"Am I done?"
"I'm not sure I'm getting what your saying."
"Am I finished? Is my dream now crushed?"
"Oh. I'm not sure. They haven't said."
"What have they said!" I'm suddenly mad.
"Relax. They said you severely bruised your tailbone and pulled your back."
"That doesn't sound good."
"You'll be fine. You'll be back dancing before you know it."
A nurse walks in then.
"Any questions that you have Callie?"
"Can I go back dancing?"
"Of course you can. But your back might bother you. You might have back pain for a while, maybe forever. But if you can bear through it, then I don't see why you can't."
"Okay. Good. How long will I be out roughly?"
"Month. Maybe two. We're setting you up with a chiropractor so hopefully he will get you back at dancing before then."
"Okay."
I relax. At least I can get back dancing soon. Have to get back to dancing to get better for Juniors. And I'm hoping to be the best dancer known in Minnesota. Dreams won't be put aside for this girl.
