Bethany and I sit on the stage for awards.
"First place goes to....." Neither of us have been called so one of us hasn't placed. Probably me. "For the first time in history here. We have a tie!!! Exact same scores! So the first place goes to..... Callie with Brave, and Bethany with Confident!"
Bethany and I jump up and hug. We walk up. Nikki smiles at us. I don't think I have ever seen her so happy.
Bethany and I run down the hall with our trophies. And the big one for the gym. And our crowns and shalls.
"Can you believe that?"
"No! Maybe it's a sign that we are meant to be. best friends." She says.
"Totally."
We run into the dressing room. We're the first ones in. We flip around the room. I handstand against the wall.
"I think the blood is rushing to my head."
"Same."
"But I'm not dropping."
"Neither am I."
We laugh. Nikki and Daniel walk in.
"Well, well my history makers." We laugh. "What are you guys doing?"
"We're letting the blood rush to our heads." Bethany says and laughs. I laugh too.
"Well, will you let the blood rush to your feet."
We stand up.
"Woah." We say.
Nikki laughs.
"Come on. Daniel said he will take pictures of us."
We hand Daniel our phones. We take one together, one of us with Nikki. And Bethany and me together.
"Where's the rest of the team?"
"They already left."
"Yeah. The always leave early."
"Wow."
"I know right."
"Well I got to go. My moms waiting."
"My dad is too. I'll come with you."
We walk together to the lobby. My mom is there. Bethany and I part ways.
"Hi sweetie. What do you say, I give you permission to have Bethany sleepover tonight if you'd like."
"Okay."
I walk over to Bethany.
"Hey, my mom said we can have a sleepover at my house. Would you like to come?"
"Dad, can I?"
"Sure."
"Okay. I'll text you later. Love you."
We ride to my house. Anthony is complaining to my mom about having to deal with the two of us.
"So, Anthony, want to come flip with us?" I ask when we get home.
"No. And what did I say about that!"
"Sorry. But you can if you want."
Bethany and I head downstairs and have some fun. Anthony comes down and handsprings over to where we are.
"Hello ladies." We laugh.
"So, you can do gymnastics?" Bethany asks.
"Yeah." We look at each other.
"I say we get mom down here to judge us. Dance war!"
"Your on."
"Mom!"
She runs down.
"What? Oh, let me guess."
"Dance war!" We all say together.
"Okay. Let's make this one quick."
We go. Anthony trips on the mat. We laugh.
"Loser!" Bethany and I say.
"You guys are like sisters. I'm not even kidding."
My mom and him walk upstairs.
"Have fun winners." My mom says.
"Are we really like sisters?" Bethany asks.
"No." We look at each other.
"No. No. No. Stop it! Maybe we are." We say in unison.
The doorbell rings.
"Wonder who it is?"
"Let's go spy."
We sneak up the stairs.
"That's my dad." Bethany says.
"Do you think?"
"Are you ready Karen?"
"Of course Rob."
We look at eachother.
"No way. My dad said something about going to dinner tonight."
We run downstairs.
"What if they end up dating, and then get married!! We'll be sisters!"
"That would be sweet."
"Just think about it."
"Sharing a room. Sharing dance clothes!"
"Sharing dance equipment!"
"I have three bars! Two hoops! Five mats! And a beam. And a vault!"
"No way!"
"Yeah!"
"Then in total we would have 8 mats. Five hoops. Eight bars! Two beams! And two vaults!"
"Dance war galore!"
"Totally!"
"I'm praying for this to happen."
"Me too."
