Dan's POV

I began to wake up...but not to silence. No, actually it was better described as violence.

Down the hall I could here laughing, cackling, really, and loud knocks on everyone's door. "William!" They'd scream after knocking on the doors, and I unfortunately knew those voices by heart.

"I don't think he's here." I heard Leah say from just down the hallway. "No, I know he is. I can smell him from here." Rick replied. Their steps came closer and closer to my door until there was a loud bang on it and they both shouted, "William?!" Before storming in. I hid under my covers before I heard Leah scream, "It's him!"

They threw the sheets off of me and looked down at my tiny, coiled up body before smirking to each other. "We're so happy to see you, William." Rick sang, emphasizing my fake name they made up. "Please. I beg of you." I whimpered, already beginning to cry. "Excuse me? Did you just speak without being spoken to?!" Leah asked, offended. "I'm sorry." I let out a tiny sob. "There he goes again, talking by himself. You know what that means." Rick sang, and I flinched away before I felt a fist collide with my cheek. "Ow." I squeaked out, but that didn't stop them.

Punch after punch, scratch after scratch, it was never going to end, that is, until I heard a familiar voice. "Hey! Stop it!" Phil threw them both aside, and stood in front of me as a shield. "What do you two think you're doing?!" He screamed violently at them. They were both shocked after getting knocked down, and sat on the floor with wide eyes. "Please, we...we didn't mean it." Leah said, stumbling as she stood up. "Yeah right, like you didn't. You two are going in the crazy room for twelve hours as punishment." He grabbed them both roughly by the back of their necks, and then threw them out of the room, and slammed the door behind him.

I whimpered at the lid sound, and continued sobbing silently. I cried, partly because I was in so much pain, and partly because Phil was gone. He had saved me, and then left. Just like that, he was here, and now God knows how long it'll take before he comes back. Even if he comes back.

I cried for another thirty minutes before the door opened again and I curled back into the smallest ball I could manage, wrapping my tail around me protectively.

"Please don't hit me." I whimpered, begging that it wasn't them again. "Dan, I would never hurt you." I heard Phil reply. I looked up, and he was standing beside me, with the kindest eyes and the sweetest smile. "Thank you." I said, giving him my best fake grin. "Aw, Danny," he leaned down, and wrapped me in his arms. I purred, and rubbed my head against his chest before he pulled away. "You know how easily I can spot your fake smile?" he chuckled, and gently pet my cheek.I just purred in response. "You're so cute." he smiled down at me. "Thanks." I blushed wildly, and looked at the ground, flattered.

"Why'd you come back?" I asked him after a while. Phil laughed awkwardly, "I didn't have the keys to my house. I left them here, and when I came back I heard those two jerks making noise, and came to the rescue." "Well, I'm happy you left your keys. You're my hero." I rubbed my head against his stomach so much to the point where my ears bent forward against him. He laughed, and I stopped to look up at him and laugh too.

"Are you gonna leave again?" I asked him sadly after a few moments of silence. "I need to call PJ. The rule is that if, for whatever reason, a Neko gets hurt by another Neko, or a worker, they are to be with someone for twenty four hours," He pulled his phone out of his pocket, and dialed a number. "But another rule is that workers can't stay the night, unless decided otherwise earlier that morning." I nodded, and put my head down between my two hands which were balled up into small fists.

All I heard Phil say during the phone call was, "Hey Peej. I know it's late, but something happened... I forgot my keys, so I came here to get them, and when I did, I heard noises coming the hallway. When I went down there, I saw Dan was being beaten my Leah and Rick, and I put them in the crazy room. Now I just need to know what to do with Dan...Well I know, that's why it's so backwards...Should we bend a rule?...Ok, I'll break it, but you can't hold it against me...Ok, bye." and just like that, he hung up.

"So?" I asked, looking up at him with my head tilted to the side with wide, eager eyes. "So," he mocked my tone before I playfully punched him in the tummy. "Um, Peej said I can stay and it won't be held against me." he smiled. "Yay!" I shouted happily, and wrapped my arms around his waist. He chuckled, and hugged me back. "Thank you." I smiled before I kissed his cheek.

We pulled away, and Phil blushed a deep red. I giggled at him, and laid my head down on my blanket. "You're a cute little Neko, aren't you?" Phil asked, and started petting my tummy. I rolled over on my back and purred. He laughed at my silliness, and kept petting me.

He became tired, and stopped, to which I whimpered at. "You've gotta go back to sleep anyway." He said, and I nodded sadly before turning back over.

I laid my head down and closed my eyes. "Goodnight." Phil whispered, kissing my forehead as I began to get sleepy.

"Goodnight." I whispered back before quickly falling asleep.
