Phil's POV
Later that night, after closing up and saying goodbye to PJ, who arrived way late in the work day, Dan, Hiro, and I moved back in. We put his crib in our room, and bought some extra baby formula, clothes, and toys for him. He was already an extremely spoiled little baby. And while Hiro slept really well that night, being tired from the small move, Dan didn't.
"What if-if they're back? Where are they? Am I safe?" Dan asked, sitting up in our bed. I gently sat up and held his hand. "Hey," I intertwined our fingers, "It's okay. The door is locked and Officer Morgan is on speed dial, and my phone is in my pocket right now. You're safe with me."
After another hour of talking and whispering sweet nothings to Dan, he finally fell asleep in my arms. I fell asleep almost right after him, and woke up before him.
Hiro was crying in the morning, so I got up and fed him quickly in the lounge. When I came back to our room, Dan was sitting up in our bed, shivering, covering his whole body, besides his eyes and forehead.
"Phil!" He screamed, jumping up from the bed. he ran over and tackled me and Hiro in a hug. I nearly fell over, but quickly caught my balance. "Hey, Kitten." I replied, petting his head. He purred, and rubbed his head against my hand. I laughed, and kissed his forehead.
"I was scared they kidnapped you and Hiro. I had a nightmare." He said sheepishly, blushing like mad. "Awe. You're so cute." I smiled, and quickly bent down, pecking his lips. She blushed harder, and shyly smiled up at me.
I put Hiro back in his crib, who then quickly fell asleep.
"So, um, Phil. Are you going to leave me here?" Dan asked nervously while I was getting dressed and ready to go to work. I was really hoping he wouldn't ask that, but I guess it had to be sooner rather than later. "Um, well, I'm not really allowed to take you with me..." I tried to dodge the question by beating around the bush. "What?!" You can't leave me here!" He cried, sitting up in our bed. I turned around, still buttoning my shirt, "You'll be okay, I promise. On my way home I'm getting you an iPhone so you can call me if anything goes wrong. I promise you and Hiro will be alright."
I stepped closer to him, and lifted his head up with two fingers so our eyes would meet. "If only you knew how beautiful you really are." I said quietly, and gently kissed his forehead. He blushed like mad before I walked to the front door.
"When will you be back." Dan followed me like a lost puppy. I turned around and looked down at him, "Before you know it."
I pecked his lips and left without another word. I really don't want to leave him there, alone, but what else am I to do? I can't take him everywhere, though I want to. He will be okay though, Peej texted me and said that Chris apparently flew away to America. He's running, or so PJ informed, and now he won't say anything to PJ.
I'm just happy we won't have to deal with him ever again.
Dan's POV
Phil left in a hurry, without saying anything else. "I love you." I whispered in the new found silence of the hallway. Then, I heard Hiro crying and went to see what was wrong.
When I got upstairs, nothing was wrong. He was still crying until he saw me. Once he met eyes with me, he started giggling and smiling. "Did you just want some attention?" I smiled at him, and squatted down to him. I pet his head, and he grinned even wider.
God, he's adorable. "Here, little one." I whispered, handing him a small lion stuffed animal Phil brought yesterday from the NRR. He sucked on the lion's nose, and I laughed at him. "We'll name him Lion, okay?" I said, biting my lip to keep a laugh in. He smiled at the name, and looked up at me with big...blue eyes? But, I don't have blue eyes...must be from his other parent. I decided and then swiftly brushed it off. I guess we'll find out who his real parent is when Phil gets back.
Phil's POV
I got to the center, and PJ was already there, in the waiting room. "How's Dan?" He asked. "Okay I think. He doesn't want me to leave him, but I cant blame him for being so scared I guess." I shrugged. "Okay. Um, the blood test went off this morning by the way, but I didn't check it." He said simply, walking toward the hallway, probably to go feed the kittens. "Okay." I said, suddenly excitedly. I almost completely forgot about that!
I ran to the room, past PJ, excited and a bit scared to see who was Hiro's other parent. Something told me it would be super amazing, but how cool could it be? It would just be some random Neko female, right?
I got into the slightly cold room that smelt of old metal, and instantly looked at it. In the deafening silence, my jaw dropped to the floor. On the small screen in the front of the machine, it held two pictures; they were Hiro's parents. One was Dan, but the other picture...it didn't make sense.
It was a picture of me.
