"Baby, I'm sorry, I came as soon as I could" she told me when her arms wrapped around me, thank goodness, maybe I didn't need a dark room, or my pills, or reduced to a fetal position, maybe I just needed to be in her arms.

"Thanks for coming" I said while sobbing like a little girl in her arms, finally letting out all the feelings that this fucking day had brought, she gently pushed me away to look into my eyes.

"Why are you thanking me? of course I was going to be here with you, with both of you... shhh don't cry, baby, everything will be fine" she said before kissing me on the forehead, then she grabbed my hand and we walk towards mom, she gave her a hug, mom returned it with a smile.

"I'm going to see how Ted is," Mom said giving us another smile, before walking away in the direction of Dad's room.

"I was worried when I couldn't get a hold of you" I said sitting down in my chair.

"Worried or crazy mad?" She said with a half-smile "I'm sorry love, I think our calls crossed all day, but when I spoke with your mother, I left the meeting and went directly to the hotel to pick up my stuff and then to the airport"

"Did you leave the meeting? So, you haven't signed the contract yet? " I looked at her with a frown.

"No, not yet, but it doesn't matter, it will be resolved, what did the doctor say?" she said as she pulled me to her for a hug. I told her that they were doing some tests on dad and that I hadn't talked to the doctor yet, but I did tell her what Mom had said about the operation. "How are you feeling? Any headaches?" She told me as she brushed some hair away from my face, I moved my head a little to tell her that it hurt a little.

"I'm scared, Alex" she just kissed my head while still stroking my back. I wanted to know about the conversations with mom, but right now I had no head for anything else besides my dad's condition. After she had a bad hospital coffee we walked to Dad's room.

"Emma, go home, you look exhausted, your dad is not going to wake up until tomorrow and I'm going to stay with him" Mom said when I entered the room, Alex stayed outside with Franny. "Besides, visiting hours ended a long time ago and I don't want to get the nurses in trouble." I nodded, gave her a kiss on the cheek and told her that I would be back tomorrow early. Francesca gave mom her overnight bag, then we left the hospital, the cold air hit me suddenly, I hadn't brought very warm clothes and neither did Alex. We quickly got into the car, Samuel was waiting for us to take us home.

"I'm dead, but at the same time I don't think I can sleep" I told Alex once we were inside the house, I had told Samuel to pick us up tomorrow at 8 to go to the hospital again. Then Alex prepared a bath for us, and that was just what I needed to relax, with her on my back as she massaged my scalp gradually relieving what was left of my headache.

"Everything will be fine, you'll see, I know it sounds stupid to ask you this, but try not to stress too much" she said while placing her hand gently on my belly.

"I know, this weekend was supposed to be different" I said putting my hand on hers. "We were going to be together and happy in Los Angeles and my dad was going to be fine here."

"Your dad is going to be fine and we have our whole life to go to Los Angeles and anywhere in the world you want to go to" I nodded praying to heaven that those words would come true, after a while I heard Franny yell that dinner was going to be ready in half an hour.
