Hey everybody! Dallas here, returning for more fun with #GirlsShitToo.
A lot of you have been talking about how I'm being too hard on femininity, including my school peer Adree Richards, who just started a movement to counter my own.
I still think I'm pretty justified in my criticism of femininity, because so much of femininity doesn't make sense. Females are expected to decorate themselves daily in the name of womanhood, to spend lots of time and energy looking and acting a certain way, and I don't understand how that's fair.
Just this summer I was grocery shopping with my mom when this elderly lady went out of her way to stop me and tell me I shouldn't wear flip flops with unpainted toenails. I was so surprised at the way she presented herself to me—like she was doing me this gigantic favor —that I just stood there, open mouthed. Boys never have to deal with femininity police. I wish I could go around like a boy and not worry about running into ladies like that who comment on the state of my hair or my clothing or my lack of nail color.
In my opinion, painting your nails is a waste of time. So much of what girls think they need to do to be feminine is a waste of time.
