King Yoongi retreats to his study to look over some pamphlets on new trading opportunities with other countries. He finds it difficult to pay attention to them after his brother's outburst. Memories that he has purposely hidden in the dark were roped out by Agust D. He knows what he has become and can do nothing but blame his father and the mother of princess Ari, Queen Eun-Kyung for making the monster he is today. A child is not born wicked, they can only become wicked from how they were raised or what they went through.
The king places the pamphlets back into his drawer after trying to focus on them for 20 minutes. He's going to have to worry about those tomorrow because he cannot focus on them.
He leans back in his chair, having the crook of his neck rest on the chair's top rail. The king calls Namjoon. Namjoon looks up from behind his book. He tries to not look at the king in annoyance. He returned to the king's study 10 minutes ago after taking Tiana to her new room. Namjoon is used to running all over the palace for King Yoongi since he's his right-hand man, but it's been more than usual since Tiana joined the vicinity.
"Have one of the maids run a bath for me," Yoongi says.
Namjoon unfolds his legs and gets up from the white plush cushion. He places the brown and worn-out bound papers on the desk.
Namjoon leaves the room with quickness, leaving King Yoongi in the room by himself with his thoughts. Yoongi closes his eyes and tries to clear his thoughts.
The door creaks open and Yoongi's eyes flutter open as he looks to see who it is.
"Gosh, dang it, Namjoon, what?!" The king yells.
Namjoon keeps a straight face while the king gives him a look of irritation.
"Queen Eun-Kyung wishes to speak to you," Namjoon says.
The king rolls his eyes. The last person he wants to talk to is the queen. Her well-being makes his blood boil and his hands itch to grab his sword to get rid of her, but he won't. Not now, at least.
"Is it urgent?" King Yoongi says before sighing.
Namjoon doesn't say anything, but the look in his eyes gives Yoongi an answer.
The king curses under his breath. What BS does she want to stuff down his ears now?
"Let her in," King Yoongi says with a firm voice.
Namjoon bows at the king before turning around to let the queen in.
She enters the room with her head tilted slightly low. Her arms hide under the flap of her turquoise hanbok, embroidered with gold designs. She takes small steps over to the desk to sit in front of the king. She kneels down, her navy skirt spreading around her body in a perfect circle.
The king looks down at her sitting form. Despite her head being tilted at the king in respect, the side of her mouth quirks into a small smirk. The king takes quiet and slow breaths to calm his anger down.
"Queen Eun-Kyung, what is your reason for turning up at my study?" King Yoongi asks.
She hasn't spoken yet and he already knows her reason for being here. He only asks to appear curious.
The Queen straightens her neck and looks at the king. A small smile is displayed on her aging delicate face.
"Your Majesty," she says with a smile that comes off cunning. "I'm here to check on you."
Yoongi can't help but smirk. It takes every bit of fiber in his body to not laugh in her face.
"I appreciate your concern, Queen Eun-Kyung, but nothing has happened for you to check on me," King Yoongi responds.
