Chapter 8 - Still, silent, but alive.

Dipper' Perspective

I lay still on my bed, overthinking the events from last night. I was confused about how I was supposed to feel, and it didn't help that I had struggled to get a full 8 hours sleep the past few days. In total, I have had 3 and a half hours sleep, and I am exhausted.

 To take my mind off things, I pull a book out from the towering bookshelf, it was a dark blue, dotted with faint white spots. Tess Gerritsen, one of my favourite authors, and I had reached for the book 'Call After Midnight'. Personally, it was an amazing book, and I have recently gotten into the Rizzoli and Isles series.

I slump down onto my bed, and open the book. 

A few chapters in, I hear my door open, and see Bill stood at the door. "Pinetree? Hey, um. Sorry about...last night. I was confused, and didn't know what I was doing and, well, I'm sorry." I shut my book, and walk up to him, I dig my face into his chest, and wrap my arms around his waist, whispering words of comfort. After a while, he lifted me up, and kissed me on the forehead; stunned, I struggle to find something to say, and end up with - "What-what. Huh, why, um. Oh-no. Uh, okay."

I panic and somehow manage to headbutt Bill, kick the door, and fall onto the floor: not all at once, but still, weird.

He crouches down next to me, and pulls me close. What is this feeling? I've ignored it so far, but it can no longer be contained - I hold him tightly, sinking into his arms. This is what I've been missing, hey? I can't believe I've been holding back, keeping my feelings locked away until now. I wish I could be here like this forever, silently holding each other.

"Oh, and happy birthday, I guess. Hey! If we move to Japan we can f-" Before he can continue I butt in with "No! Not yet!" We both burst into giggles, laying on the floor. It's nice seeing him smile, not out of seeing others in pain, but rather from happiness, and it's beautiful, it really is.
