Eyes.

Mia's POV:
Looking up to the gray building, I gulped.
What are they going to say about my eyes? What were my friends going to say?
"Mia, aren't you going to go?" Genna asked concerned touching me out of my trance.
"Oh, yeah. I'll see you after work." I said knowing she'd be home by seven, as always.
"Be careful and call me if anything happens." She said gripping my hand.
Nodding, I got out of her black SUV. Hearing her car speed away, I walked straight into the school.
Where are they?
All of a sudden, I noticed Kira at her locker throwing books inside and grabbing others.
"Kira." I whispered getting to her locker.
"Hey, Mia." She said, hat covering her face.
"Why do you have that?" I asked, gasping when I noticed why.
Kira's natural blue eyes were know green. Greener than green. The color of emeralds or the grass when you first wake up in the morning. Her black lashes detailing the delicate gems. The unique color shielded by her blonde hair.
"You too?" I asked shocked, blue eyes hidden behind my glasses.
Kira's eyes widened, "What do you mean me too? Do you have green eyes?"
I shook my head taking off my glasses, "Blue."
Kira gasped taking in my unnatural blue eyes.
"We need to find the girls. If this happened to us, what if it happened to them." She said green eyes widening.
Nodding we rushed off looking for Annie and Mary.
Mary, Annie, and Kira were the closest people to me other than my sister. They knew everything that had to do with my life, and I knew theirs. We've been close ever since I moved here in seventh grade. The first girls who welcomed me into their group, their home, their lives. My first best friends.
"Hey, there they are." I said pointing to the two girls sitting on the grass.
"Annie." I gasped taking in her blood shot appearance when we arrived.
Her natural blue eyes now tinted with a red hue. A firey red, orange that looked like the beginning flames of a fire ready to spread. The unnatural color widening and taking in my ocean blue eyes. The unique flames giving a weird kind of warmth.
Then I looked over to Mary, covering my mouth with my hand. Her eyes were a sharp gray, twisting into a crazed white. Misty swirls covering the white pits. The beautiful gleam looking more gray than anything. Like a gray storm cloud ready to pour rain in an instant. Her unruly curly hair framed her face, encasing the gray storm.
"What happened to us?" Mary whispered taking in our appearences.
Sitting down I whispered, "I don't know."
"I had to sneak out this morning." Annie said looking at the ground, confessing. "My mom almost caught me, but I got away at the last moment. Jeremy noticed something was off though he didn't mention it."
"My brother saw my eyes." Mary said gray swirls looking at us. "He looked scared, but then he noticed my tears and he just hugged me. Just like that. My eleven year old brother just hugged me in understanding."
"I fainted this morning." Kira whispered tugging on her hat. "Waking up I thought it was a dream. The green was drawing me in and I just couldn't take it. I was scared."
"I wore these to get out of the house." I said gripping the sunglasses. "I actually lied to Genna telling her it was apart of my outfit. I can't believe this."
I never lie to Genna. Nothing is a secret between us. A tear fell down my face as the world stared to blur. Suddenly the clear blue sky stared to drip rain. Looking up I gasped as the cold drops hit my face.
"What?" I asked touching the droplets.
"How is it raining?" Annie asked firey eyes taking in the scene.
"I-I don't know. That's so strange." I said staring at the sight.
"Let's go guys." Mary whispered getting off the wet grass as the bell rang.
"What are we going to tell everyone?" Kira asked as we walked into the building.
"Contacts. We needed contacts and thought they were cool colors." Annie said wiping my face. "We can do this."
I nodded understanding her statment. The rest of our journey staying in silence.
