{Two and a half weeks later}
Levi was required to report to Mr Allan on his progress every day. Levi never missed a day of cleaning. After the report, Levi would show Mr Allan around the areas he cleaned so he could see he was actually telling the truth. Much to his delight, Levi was always true to his word.
By now, Levi was halfway through cleaning the school.
"Now that your community service is over, you'll get through these next six weeks easily," Mr Allan said. "You're right on schedule."
"Just fulfilling my duties, sir," Levi said.
"Might you walk me through this next area?"
Levi nodded and led Mr Allan to another area, a small study room by the senior classrooms. As he walked in, his eyes widened. There was graffiti everywhere. And it was fresh. Someone was tampering with his work.
Levi pushed Mr Allan back out into the main corridor.
"What's wrong, Levi?" he asked.
"Not done. Don't come in."
"I'm sure you only missed a few spots. That's nothing to be ashamed of."
"No, sir-"
Mr Allan pushed past Levi and into the study room. Levi looked at him with a worried look.
"I see what your problem is," Mr Allan said.
"Mr Allan, it wasn't me, I swear."
"I know, don't worry. Why would you graffiti over all your hard work?"
"But you don't know if I even cleaned the room in the first place."
"But I can. I excelled at forensics when I was in school. I can smell the faint scent of the disinfectant that you used in the other rooms, plus, if you look closely at the less-graffitied areas, you can see it was recently cleaned."
Mr Allan walked around the room, taking everything in, looking for clues. He dusted his hands.
"It seems someone doesn't want you to succeed."
"As if the other staff would believe that. I doubt they excelled at forensics as much as you, sir."
"Hmm, you're right. A lot of the staff, Ms Iisha included, think you're not a very well behaved kid who causes trouble. This certainly won't help lighten their views. You were lucky you weren't suspended."
"What do we do then?"
"You keep cleaning, Levi. Keep going about your day like normal. I'll find whoever it is that's trying to cause you trouble. If you see anything, report it to me."
"With all due respect, sir, are you sure this will work? You've been vouching for me so much since the major staff meeting. Won't the others see this as an act of favouritism?"
Mr Allan walked over and placed his hand on Levi's shoulder.
"Levi, as a teacher, it is my duty to help my students. But as a human being, it is my duty to make sure everyone feels safe and happy."
Mr Allan began to walk away.
"Dinner's in twenty minutes, Levi. Why don't you go get ready?"
"I'd rather clean this mess first, sir."
"You're a good kid, Levi. I'll see you tomorrow in English."
Mr Allan walked away and Levi cleaned the area.
Over the next week and a half, Levi and Mr Allan both stumbled across fresh graffiti arts where Levi had just finished cleaning. No culprit had been found and most of the teachers blamed Levi.
