{One week later}
Hange leaned on the wall and sighed. She was getting nowhere with her current method. Not to mention, snooping around in and out of classrooms looked really weird to onlookers.
Hange decided it was time to stop snooping around for clues. It was time for a stakeout!
Levi was currently cleaning an empty classroom. Everyone else had headed to the oval for a large whole school soccer game, meaning the school building was almost empty, left with only some of the staff, Levi, Hange, the studying kids... and the villain.
Hange was almost certain it was Eve. Who else would it be? But Mr Allan always said to never make a final assumption in the middle of a case during Forensics Club, so she couldn't confirm it just yet.
The classroom Levi was cleaning in had two entrances. The back entrance was rarely used as it was an old fire escape that no one used anymore. It led to the teacher's car park at the back of the school, which was unmonitored, which meant that it would be easier for Eve to escape unnoticed. She was certain that's where she would strike next.
But how am I supposed to catch her?
Hange looked up, looking for an answer as she used to do as a kid. In the forest, when you looked up, you would always find an answer. Maybe it was materials or a place to go, like a vine, a branch.
Or an air vent.
Hange smiled. The old school Hange wouldn't have even considered climbing into an air vent to spy on someone.
Now, how to get up there... Hmm...
Hange looked around and saw a man who was fixing some faulty lights in the next corridor. He climbed down the ladder with two long light sticks and placed them on the ground, then felt around his pockets. He sighed and walked away, presumably to get the replacement light sticks he had forgotten.
As soon as he was out of sight, Hange quickly rushed forward to get the ladder and dragged it towards the vent. She bit her lip as the scraping of the ladder against the tiled floor echoed through the hallway.
She unfolded the ladder and climbed up, pushing open the grate and climbing inside the vent. Hange kicked over the ladder which folded itself so no one would know someone had climbed into the vents.
She could hear the electrician running over to his ladder, confused as to who folded it and how it moved. Hange quietly put the grate back in place and watched as the electrician picked up his ladder and started to walk away.
"Damn kids," she heard the electrician say.
Hange giggled quietly, then started to crawl along the vents to the classroom. She came across a grate and looked through it. Levi was packing up some of his cleaning supplies.
Eve is due any minute now...
Levi soon left the room. A few moments after he left, a figure wearing a gas mask concealing their face came into the room and started shaking spray cans.
There! Should I go expose her now? No, I'll need evidence that she actually graffitied the room.
Hange took out the camera that her friend in the Media Club, Georgie, had lent her for her investigation. Georgie was present at the time when Travis and Levi fought and had listened carefully to Hange's speech about leaving the Perfects. After that, she had decided to investigate further.
Georgie was always one for finding out the truth and felt that she could trust Hange with her investigation and had asked her many questions, eventually releasing an article in the school newspaper, which Hange had not yet read, deciding she didn't want to look back at those memories. During this time, the two had become friends.
