Afraid of Everyone but the One you should Fear the Most

Sidney wandered in the direction she watched the goop and the guards disappear down. The further she went, the darker it seemed to get. She stopped, looking up at the sign above. SOLITARY CONFINEMENT. He was brought straight to Solitude? Way to drive a monster mad. Looking around for anyone who could stop her, she reluctantly opened the gate leading inside. It squeaked loudly, making her freeze. No one came running. She pushed it a little bit more, until she could slip through. The lighting was dim in here, creating shadows everywhere. There was no other doors here, only the ever darkening hallway. She took a few steps forward, before she lost her courage and went to reteat. Only to here the squeal of the gate and the jangling of keys. Sidney rushed over. The gate was locked and a guard was walking away. "Damned new recruits, always leaving that gate unlocked. Don't they know how dangerous he is?" The guard grumbled. She thought to call him back, but that meant getting in trouble.. guess she was spending the night in here.. safe..ish.

For awhile, she simply leaned against the wall, resting. A bang made her jolt up, looking into the darkness. There was a shadow, a silhouette of someone. Someone around 4 foot tall. "M-mr. Goop..?" They came closer, a dripping sound reached her ears. She slid back. "U-uh.. sir?" They stepped into the dim lighting. It was not the goopy monster. It was the child she'd been accused of murdering. Their head lulled to the side, neck slit wide open. Blood poured down, soaking their clothes and dripping onto the floor. Their hair was a knotted mess, their feet blistered and bleeding. Their eyes were glazed, staring blankly at her. Their lips a blueish purple. Their skin was ghostly white. She wanted to scream. She couldn't. "Ki...ller..... hor.....ror........du.......st..........err.........or.............the.....................king..................is........................bey........................ond............" They fell back, finger pointing down the darkened hallway. Sidney jolted awake.

It took her a good 10 minutes to recover. She stared down the hall in paranoia. She was not a smart person. White people always investigating. She got up and started down the dark hall. This had to be the second stupidest thing she's done aside from getting herself charged for murder. When she got to the end, it was almost pitch black. There were no bars on the door. Only solid metal with a small slider opening in the center. Sidney decided, like an idiot, to open it and peek inside. Staring right back at her was the goop monster with a sinister smile on his face. She jumped away when a tentacle surged forward, slamming into the door and trying to slither its way through the slot. It couldn't reach her though, and retreated back inside. She stood frozen like a statue as a Cyan eye appeared in the slot. He was looking at her. "you should know better than to sleep in the vicinity of the king of nightmares. you're fear was delicious~" He purred.

She stared at him and he stared back. "King of nightmares?" He chuckled darkly. "ah, that's right. you are native to this au. you wouldn't know me. i am the king. i am what everyone fears at night. i am the worst. i am nightmare." Was he monologing? "Uh.. ok then.. uh.. hi Nightmare. I'm Sidney." He narrowed his eye. "you're not afraid anymore." She shrugged. "I mean, you did scare the crap outta me, but we are having a conversation, so you can't be all bad."
"you have no idea how bad i am." He warned. "if i wasn't trapped within here, this entire universe would either be dead or under my rule."
"Ok, your majesty. Well, I'm kinda stuck in here for the time being so.." Sidney slipped onto the ground. "Night Nootmare." His tentacles slammed angerly into the cell. He hated being called that. The last person to call him that was dead. This fucking woman.. He growled. She didn't fear him at all. He'd show her.
