The corruption didn't last all that long. It seemed that Sidney's love had won against it's hate, and it never had that tight a hold on her to begin with, seeing as she'd never really done anything with bad intentions. It took quite awhile for Sidney to process everything that happened. Luckily she had all night to do so. "So to get this straight... Nightmare saved me from prison with the intention of corrupting my soul, marrying me, having babies, and leaving me. So now we are married." She muttered after hours of trying to get the facts straight. This is not how she'd hoped to start a life. She'd hoped to meet a good guy, maybe he'd be a teacher too, and settle down. Get a decent place and have a kid or two... not... this mess. "Now what do I do? Can I make this work? Do I get a divorce?" There was a creeking sound and her head snapped up. She blushed a little when she realized it was Nightmare checking in on her. The King looked her in the eyes. She looked away. "heh heh heh... so you're back... that certainly didn't last long."

There hadn't been to much conversation after that. She'd given a nod, unsure of what to say about any of this, so he'd left. She'd tried to get some sleep afterwards. Now they both sat in silence at the table. It was unbearable. "Good morning... my king." Nightmare's cyan eye flicked over to her. "what will you do now? you are aware of my intentions." That was the question, wasn't it? "After taking the night to think it over... I've decided to try and make it work... our marriage. I'm going to try and get you to love me. You can have your heir, it will be a win on both ends." Sidney was still determined to help the sad goop monster. She'd heard what he'd said to that corrupt version of her. He hated himself as much as everyone else hated him. So she was determined to show him love and what it's like to be loved. It likely wouldn't be easy, but... it was worth trying. Nightmare laughed, amused by the silly notion. "good luck with that, a being of pure negativity can not feel love." Challenge accepted. "You'll see, King Nightmare, you'll see."

Being a Queen with no subjects was definitely something. It was like being a normal person who wore royal clothing 24/7. Now that she'd challenged Nightmare to this game of love, she had to actually do things that he'd fall for, be herself is what they always say. He'd told her once that he loved to read, and play chess. She decided to learn how to play it herself. "King can move in any direction thats directly next to it.. Queen can move in every direction as the King, only it can go as far as it wants.. Rook can move backwards, forwards, and sideways.. Bishop can move only diagnally.. Knight goes two squares in one direction then one square in another.. Pawn can only go forward and capture diagnally." You read in a book on the game of chess. "it can only move one square per turn, except for the first, it can move two squares. is learning chess seriously your plan on 'winning my heart'?" Nightmare asked. "if so it won't work."
"Ah, there goes all my hopes and dreams." Sidney rolled her eyes. As if she was going to give up that easy. Chess was only the beginning.
