I woke up as sunlight entered the room, I slowly opened my eyes, and I see Laika, opening all the curtains on the window. I sat up quickly. "It's just me," she smiled as she walked over to check my Al Kina, "Good morning," she greeted. I looked around, "Good morning" I greeted back as I got off from the bed. I rubbed my arms as I felt the coldness of the wind entering the room. Laika seemed to notice, she gave me a robe before going back to the vanity. "You should take a warm bath before I prep you, Arwen told me you'll be having combat training with Balzar," she said. My eyes widened, Combat training? I've had combat back in the army, but I wasn't that good, the last time I had combat was probably last month.
"Balzar? who is he?" I asked, Laika looked at me, leaning on the vanity. "Balzar Tuchkin, a retired Kairu assassin, killed over probably a hundred, merciless, ruthless, and strict. He trains both moon warriors and assassins," She said, a playful smirk appearing on her face. Killed over a hundred? merciless? ruthless? this will be the end of me. I feel my face go white, blood draining, my stomach felt like it was being twisted. I gulped roughly as I nodded, "But don't worry, he's less harsh to students who think before they do something," she chuckled. Well, that helps a lot Laika.
"Go now, I still need to do your hair," she said. I walked into the bathroom, the tub already prepared with warm water. I hopped in the tub and washed. As I washed, I couldn't help but think about Kyrus and Hysteria. Are they safe? are they thinking about me? I want to see them so badly, be in their arms, feel their hugs, hear their voices, their laughs. "Are you finished, Vi?" I hear Laika ask. I snapped back to reality, "Yes, coming!" I said. I got out of the tub and wore the bathrobe. I made my way out. "come on, sit," she said. I sat on the vanity hair, Laika started to go through my hair. She brushed, tugged, and twisted my hair. "Beautiful once again, " Laika smiled. This time she made it into a neatly done bun, with two strands of braids from my front part. I looked at myself in the mirror, once again I didn't look like myself, I wanted to cry, but it looked so beautiful if only Laika had it. "Thank you Laika, it's...beautiful," I smiled. "Thank you, now you can wear the Al kina by yourself can you?" she joked, I let out a chuckle as I got up. I wore undergarments before wearing the Al kina. Laika helped me with the buttons, after, I wore my boots. "Don't forget this," she said as she approached me with the headpiece. "Will it not fall in combat training?" I asked as she placed it on my head, adjusting it little by little. "Don't worry, the Opran made this. It has some kind of magic," she said, I raised my eyebrows, "Opran? who's he?" I asked. I swear, what is there that I don't know. Laika let out a sigh, "The Opran is the creator of Al Kina's, the boot you wear and this headpiece," She explained. "There had been different Opran's over the years, but they all come from the same family, abilities passed down from generation to generation," She continued. I nodded, suddenly we heard a knock on the door, Laika dusted her dress before opening it. She froze to who was behind the door, and so did I. "Arwen," she greeted. Arwen froze before speaking, he cleared his throat, "Laika, good morning. I've come to escort Tinuviel to Breakfast, is she uhm, ready?" he asked shyly. It was cut to see Arwen all soft, and Laika, stunned by his beauty. "Yes, you may take her," she said. She bowed at me, then at Arwen before leaving. I looked at Arwen, his face all red, "What?" he snapped at me. I swallowed my smile and shook my head. "Let's go, Franz is waiting for us," he said. I followed Arwen through the halls once again. "Arwen," I started, checking to see if he was in a mood to talk, "What?" he asked, in a calmed voice. "I've been meaning to ask, how long have you known Laika?" I asked, hopefully, he doesn't mind. "I've known her since we were little, ever since we were children, we've spent our lives behind these walls, her mom was a Harriet my parents were assassins," he said. I nodded, he cleared his throat, "Why do you ask?" he said, his voice had that shy feeling, I couldn't help but smile. "Nothing, I just noticed something," I said. "Right," he said in the same shy tone. I let out a quiet chuckle.
