I woke up to someone knocking on the door. I groaned as I pushed the covers off me, as I stood I felt the coldness of the room, the bed is warm because of its cloth, it was made to warm the user. I wore my robe before opening the door. "I have been knocking for 15 minutes now, and saints you look like you haven't slept!" Laika exclaimed, on her right hand was her case. I sighed as I remembered what I'll be doing today. "Well, why are you just standing there? chop-chop! you have a long day ahead of you," she said, pushing me in before setting her case on the vanity. "Isn't it too early?" I groaned, she glared at me, "fine, fine. I'm warming the bath," I said before walking into the bathroom.
I wonder what happens in an Armorel? how many will be present? will I have to say something?
I couldn't help but wonder, this would be my first time attending an Armorel, I'll be the new, out-of-place person once again. The bath was warm but had a cold tickle just like yesterday. After rinsing, I wrapped myself with a bathrobe before heading out to Laika who was waiting by the vanity.
"Did you get the letters?" Laika asked as she started to comb my hair. My heart froze as she said it, I didn't get the letters, I got lost and ended up in the king's office. "I-uhm-I got lost..." I paused hesitating if I should he told me to stay in his office. "I told you I should have gotten it myself. Wait, wasn't Franz and Arwen with you?" she said. "I went alone," I replied. I felt her stop combing my hair, "Vi! going alone is dangerous," she said, looking straight at me through the mirror. "I know, someone found me anyway," I said, rolling my eyes. "And who was it?" she said, now tugging and arranging my hair. "The king...I ended up in his office," I said. "And did he send you back to your quarters?" she asked. I slightly shook my head, "He let me stay in the office and called the both of them," I replied. "Was he angry?" she asked. "a little...I think?" I said, unsure if he was angry, well I was the one who was angry.
Half of my hair was down, but half of it was tied into a braided bun, Laika finished off by placing the weightless headpiece on my head. "This is your first Armorel, good luck on it," she said as she grabbed my Al Kina from the hanger. "Do you know who would be present in the Armorel Laika?" I asked as I buttoned my Al Kina. "I don't know everyone, but Corporals of each city will be there," she said. "The corporals will be in the king's army?" she nodded before finishing the last button. "Oh- I'm sorry about last night, the king's invite was all so sudden," I said as I got my boots. "No worries, it was important," she smiled as she kept her case. Suddenly we heard a knock on the door. I went over to open it, expecting to be greeted by Franz or Arwen, maybe both, but those grey eyes stood before me once again.
"La Erik'non," Laika greeted with a bow, "You've done well Laika, you may attend to your other duties now, I'll take Miss Chantrea," he said. Laika gave me a warm smile before heading out. "Am I having breakfast with you again?" I asked, letting out a sigh. "As I said yesterday, you'll have to stay close to me to know what to do, so yes, have breakfast with me," he said. I rolled my eyes before following him out and into the familiar crimson red room.
I sat down on the same seat I sat on the other days I dined with him. "We're having mushroom soup for breakfast, do you like mushrooms?" he suddenly said. I almost laughed at him, just hearing him ask about mushrooms felt as if a child was asking. I smirk appeared on my face, along with a chuckle. He raised an eyebrow, "If something was funny I would like to know," he said, his eyes having the same dark glare. "I'm sorry, it's just that, when you asked about mushrooms it seemed like something the King would not ask," I said, letting out a chuckle once again. "Do you think I'm so bad that even asking about mushrooms seems like not me?" he said, looking down at his soup. "I didn't mean that I mean you have the power to decide the punishment for a person, you can send someone out to the Haimati to be killed by the tribe, I don't know...so to me your a strict, gloomy, no fun person?" I said. A smirk appeared on his face, I furrowed my eyebrows as to why he was smirking, "Really? I thought I was a self-centered, selfish man?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. I stayed silent, taking a sip off my water. He wasn't like that as I thought...maybe.
