Marinette
She was running. Running so inexplicably fast she was barely touching the ground. After Adrien had told her he loved her, she had felt 5000 different emotions all at once.

There hadn't been any akuma attacks all week, so Marinette hadn't even seen Chat Noir that much. However, she had gotten to know Adrien a lot more. She learned a lot more about him than she had never known before- he was funny. He reminded her of Chat Noir at times- where every once in a while a little bit of his goofiness would shine through, and she realized she liked it.

On her patrols with Chat Noir, he told her that Gabriel Agreste was nowhere to be found, and the whole mayor thing was a scam to find a way to akumatize the whole city. He had the power over the city to get them to vote for him, and he was willing to abuse that.

As each day went on, she started to realize how similar Adrien and Chat Noir were- and she fell deeper in love with both of them.

Now- she was almost positive they were one and the same. It made her fall in love even more- her love for two people combining to become one.

"Tikki spots on!" She yelled, running into an empty alley. She had to find Chat Noir. She went to their meeting spot for their evening patrol- and he was already perched on the ledge when she got there.

He met her eyes, two people, in love, all alone in the world. She panted, trying to catch her breathed yet losing it time and time again as he took it away.

He was her everything- and it had taken her so long to realize it. She took a step towards him, and he took a step towards her- two hearts beating as one yet miles apart.

As she took another step towards him, her mind flashed to every memory she had with him- with Chat Noir, with Adrien, every memory that led up to the moment she had fallen in love.

Right when she was about to take another forbidden step, a car pulled up beneath them. They both turned, and Nathalie Sancoeur stepped out. "Ladybug and Chat Noir. I need your help.

Nathalie
Nathalie hadn't slept in days. She hadn't stopped looking for Gabriel- night after night she searched relentlessly for him, with no luck.

Now she had no choice but to turn to the people Gabriel hated most in the world.

They weren't hard to find. Everyone knew about their daily morning, afternoon, and nightly patrols, so one afternoon- exactly one week since Gabriels disappearance- she sought them out.

They agreed to help her- but in return she had to tell them everything. She didn't care at that point. She would give anything to have him back. Soon before the attack- he had started losing hope.

His attacks were less frequent, and he stopped visiting Emilie as much.

He was giving up.

One day, she was working in her bed, researching the past Ladybug and Chat Noirs- when he entered. "Nathalie, I'm losing hope," he had said, taking his glasses off and pinching the bridge of his nose. "She might as well be gone permanently- that's how far we are from bringing her back."

Nathalie looked at him, trying to think of something to say that would make him feel better. "I understand you may feel that way sir- but we must not give up hope. She's waiting for you s- Gabriel."

He looked up at the sound of his name. "But what if its all for nothing Nathalie? All the sacrifices I've made for her- Adrien, my company- you."

He gently touched her hand, sending her head into a flurry of emotion. "I've lost too much Nathalie. I cannot lose you too. If bringing her back means losing you or Adrien- I'm willing to stop trying."

She met his eyes, his sharp blue filled with firmity. "Never again. Never at that cost."

"Gabriel, I would do anything for you and your family. You need to know that." She looked away. Taking the job may have been the biggest mistake, and blessing of her life. "Adrien is like my own son. And you... you mean more than you know to me." She left it at that, unwilling to share more about the all the love she had buried in her heart. He would neglect her in the fear of change, in the fear of the unknown.

She would never let him. "Please, dont give up just yet Gabriel. There is always hope."

He smiled softly and hugged her, taking her by surprise. He never displayed affection, even less so while opening up. "I won't give up. Not yet. Thank you Nathalie."

She gripped him harder, trying to ignore the pit that was forming in her stomach. "Of course sir."

Now, she was replaying that moment in her head repetitively, wondering if he would still be with her had she told him to give it up.
