"I completely fell in love with her during the Senior year.. She was the hottest, most popular.. and I couldn't get her off my mind.. I tried and tried to be with her, but she was always taken by someone else or too busy for a relationship.. when in reality, I just wasn't enough" Zayn fumbled with his hands as he spoke. 

He hated this memory.. 

"I changed everything about myself so I fit her type.. I had blonde in my black hair, I started smoking, I wore jean jackets and white t shirts.." Zayn bit his lip as he recalled the memory.. 

"And she started talking to me.. We called almost every night and were inseperable at school.."

Liam felt bad now.. He can see how much pain talking about this brings to his friend..

"I loved her... with all my heart.. and n=everyone thought I was just another part of her games. But we were so much more.." Zayn confesses and a small, but sad, smile comes to his lips..

then it fades and he says "That's what I thought, at least.."

"No..." Liam whispered

Zayn nodded slowly and took a deep breath.. "She left. And I was tore up.. but it was fine, whatever. Right?" He speaks with fake confidence that Liam sees right through

"Mate, I didn't know.. I'm sorry"

"No.. No, really, it's okay. And she's back.. and the way she spoke to me just hurt so much.. that's why I was drinking so much those few weeks.." Zayn admits

"And.. you're together now?" Liam asks carefully

"Sorta.. we're.. like.. talking I guess.." Zayn shrugs a little

"What'd you do when you were at her place earlier?" Liam asks out of curiousity

"Oh.." Zayn smiles a little "I asked if she'd go on a proper date with me.. So we could catch up.. and she was so flustered and red in the face.. and she was trying not to smile too big.."

"So.. You really like this one, huh?" Liam asks with a smile

"I always have, man.." Zayn sighs.. "But this could just be her getting back at me.."

"Getting back at you?" Liam repeated in confusion

"Yeah... uh.. when she left me, I kinda.. got with her friend Cassidy and we were the cutest couple in school but really, Cassidy wanted to rub our relationship in Vanessa's face and I did too.. so that's what we did. Got prom king and queen, had the cutest moments in the school hallways, and I carried her around once at a football game and kissed her infront of everyone.. She was a cheerleader and I was the one who tossed her and her squad caught her and held her up in the air."

Zayn chuckles at the memory then says "We would've been an actual good couple.. but we just weren't interested in each other like that. We were very good friends that kissed and hands but it was all for show"

Liam gasps and says "Wait, you mean Cassidy as in the girl we ran into and she jumped into your arms and her boyfriend got all mad and you two had to explain that you're just friends?!"

"Yeah, that'd be her.." Zayn grins

"You're right.. if you two weren't just friends, you'd be an adorable couple... But what if Vanessa is just doing this to get you back? Zayn, I don't want you to get hurt again." Liam tells his friend

"You really like Beth?" Zayn asked

"Yeah, I do.." Liam admits

"I really like Vanessa" Zayn uses that as his argument.. and Liam just nods in understanding.
