Into the woods
SINCE TRAINING WITH KREESE HAD BEEN GOING SO WELL the man decided that he was going to take the kids to the woods for training. Cleo had already experienced this game before, but, it was on a smaller scale, and she lost terribly. She hoped that this time she would be able to prove herself, do better in her sensei's eyes.
That's all she ever wanted.
"Gentleman, ladies, welcome to Coyote Creek. You've been split up into two teams. Red, and black." Kreese explained, Cleo tightening her black headband. "The goal is to capture as many headbands as possible from the other side. Today, the people across from you are not your friends. They're not your brothers, they are the enemy. The last team standing wins."
"How do we get the headbands?" Miguel questioned.
"By any means possible, no rules." The Kreese man explained.
"Use your judgement, this is just a training exercise." Johnny corrected, his arms folded across his chest.
"Correct, but remember, this is your life." The eldest man there held up a headband. "If you lose it, you die."
"We're not losing anything." Cleo voiced, her eyes staring directly into Hawks.
Sure, she couldn't exactly mess with him without the boy exposing her secrets but, in this situation? She figured things were fair game.
"Hey, Guys! Sorry i'm late. Traffic on 118 was a real bitch." Chubs filed into the black teams line, the most ridiculous line of hair tied up in his beard. "Put Coyote Creek into the nav, nothing came up."
It was beginning to be extremely hard for Cleo not to laugh.
"What have you done to yourself?" Johnny questioned, an unimpressed look on his face and arms crossed.
"Oh, the..yeah, you know what, I just decided to flip the script, Hawk-Style." The man took off his glasses. "Respect. Heretofore, you can refer to me as Stingray."
"Yeah, all right, Chubs." The Lawrence man pointed his head towards Kreese. "He's on your team."
"Terrific." The older man mumbled to himself.
"I say it's time we get started." Cleo suggested, clapping her hands together. She was overly excited for things like this, always had been.
Competitiveness was in her nature, and that was never gonna change.
CLEO SMIRKED UPON SEEING A FELLOW COBRA KAI with a red head band not too far away. Part of her felt like she was on a hunt, and the other team was the prey, and she was right, because while they were out in these woods, they were no longer Cobra Kai, or friends. They were who she was trying to win against.
