It always begins in a hallway.
Dark. Cold. Endless.
I'm lost, and no matter how far I walk, the hallway perpetually plunges into heavy blackness.
I slow, and stare into it, paralyzed with dread.
And then I see it.
A pair of bright red eyes.
Peering at me from the gloom.
Leering at me.
And the dread morphs into putrid, all-consuming fear.
I know the end is near.
It's right here, in plain sight.
And I can't escape it.
Not this time.
