"Renesmee!" I called as I chased after her. "Please! Let me explain!"Renesmee stopped at the edge of the village and whirled around to confront me.
"What could you possibly say to explain this away?" she asked, her tone thick with accusation.
"I had to eat something, Renesmee. I was starving."
"I don't care, Violet! You should've resisted!"
"Do you even know what you're asking of me? That's not possible for everyone - I mean, I just turned, for Christ's sake!"
"When my mom turned—"
"I don't give a damn about what your mom did!" I yelled, my anger quickly beginning to spiral. Renesmee's naïveté was grating on my last nerve. "Your mom is a fucking Mary Sue! Her entire existence doesn't make sense, and, to make matters worse, your father has spoon-fed her lies, and has convinced her that she so goddamn special that she's exempt to every rule in the book!"
"How dare you talk about my parents that way!"
"They're criminals, Renesmee! And their selfish little games are a threat to our kind. This may shock you, but the world is much bigger than Forks, Washington. Take a moment and think about someone outside of yourself for once."
"Look at you," Renesmee spat. "You're so big and bad now that those psychopaths have turned you. They have you killing people and feeding on humans! They've turned you into a monster!"
"I'm not a monster," I snapped. "And I've done a hell of a lot more for the vampire community as a human than you and your coven have in your entire lifetimes. How dare you stand there and judge me! Why? Because I've chosen to go out and make a difference, instead of sitting around in high school for the hundredth time?"
"Get over yourself!" Renesmee cried. "Your coven is a pack of homicidal animals. Do you know what they did in the villages we went to while you were turning? They wiped everyone out. Everyone. Men, women, and children. People who had no idea what was going on; people who hadn't been exposed to the rouge vampires.
"Do you want to know how this village emptied out so quickly.? Because your coven killed everyone on sight, dragged them out into the woods, and burned the bodies.
"They enjoy killing - not just humans, but vampires, too! They gleefully inflict pain on anything that moves, and they feel no remorse. They're heartless, Violet, and if you're willing to join them, and embrace their lifestyle...you are just as bad as they are."
"You know what's wrong with you Cullens? You are all too afraid to accept what your really are. You're a coven of VAMPIRES. You're not HUMANS anymore," I sneered. Rage was boiling within me, hotter than I'd ever experienced before. "My coven has been doing their job. We do the dirty work so vampires like you can sit around and play house in peace. We've spent centuries tirelessly protecting our kind, and this is how you thank us?"
"I'm giving you one more chance," Renesmee said, lowering her voice. "Come back to Forks with me and start over. Everything that has happened to you - everything that they've done to you - can be left in the past. You don't have to allow yourself to become this dark, twisted version of yourself."
"You know what, Renesmee? Go back to your dry ass graham cracker life with your saintly family. I don't need your mercy, and I certainly don't need your guidance," I scoffed. "Do me a favor and climb out of my ass. Get on a plane and go home."
Renesmee stared at me for a long moment with a hard look in her eye. "My mom was right about you. Shame on me for ever thinking you were redeemable. After what you did to Jacob, I should've know better."
I stared at her in shock. Surely I heard her incorrectly.
"Jacob tried to kill me!" I exclaimed.
"Jacob was nothing but selfless, kind soul. He wouldn't hurt a fly!"
"That how would you explain my scar?" I demanded.
"If he did anything to you, he was doing it to protect me. He imprinted on me, and all he ever did was take care of me."
"Jacob was a sick, possessive, domineering brute."
"You were just jealous because he prioritized me in a way Alec will never do for you. Let's be real: no matter what happens, and no matter how much time passes, Jane will ALWAYS outrank you! She will always come first!"
"Jealous? Please! Jacob came at me crooked and he got exactly what he deserved." A cold smirk creeped across my face. "In fact, if I could do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing. I'd kill that motherfucker twice with a smile."
Renesmee pursed her lips and glared at me before reaching out and slapping me across the face.
The cracking sound of our marble skin colliding echoed into the night, until it faded out, and gave way to silence.
Every single thought in my head vanished.
All I had within me was pure, unadulterated rage.
The sound that escaped from my throat started as a low, guttural growl, before turning into a ripping roar.
Renesmee's heart stammered in her chest and her eyes went wide with fear just before I launched myself at her.
My teeth snapped within an inch of her face when two strong arms wrapped around my waist and jerked me backwards.
"Leave!" I heard Demetri snap, his voice right next to my ear.
I continued to lunge at Renesmee uncontrollably, dragging Demetri along as he remained anchored to me, trying to hold me back.
"Go!" he roared. "Now!"
Renesmee, finally snapping out of her daze, unceremoniously turned tail and got the hell out of Dodge.
