TRIGGER WARNINGS!!!!
Abigail POV
My eyes flutter open and I immediately shut them from the sunlight. I slowly open my eyes to see Aaron smiling down at me. "Good morning,"
"Good morning," I say softly, smiling up at him. He presses a quick kiss to my lips before pulling me close to his chest. I lean my head against him with a smile, basking in the feeling of protection. "So what's for breakfast?"
"Well before we can eat breakfast, you have to wake up,"
"Wake up? Aaron, I am awake,"
"Wake up Gail," I pull away from him, my face morphed into one of confusion.
"I'm awake,"
"Gail!"
My body jolts as I awake to the sight of Danny hovering over me. It was a dream. My eyes burn, tears threatening to present themselves. "Finally you're awake. It's time for breakfast,"
"I'm not hungry," My voice comes out hoarse and I wince due to the pain. I carefully sit up, my back pressing against the headboard.
"You need to eat. I made your favourite," He holds a plate of chocolate chip pancakes in his hand and a sob almost breaks through my lips. He places the fork of pancakes near my lips and I begrudgingly open my mouth.
As soon as I swallow I feel sick. Danny rushes and grabs a bin and I vomit everything that I ate last night and the forkful of pancakes into the garbage bin. Danny holds my hair up as I continue to heave before stopping. "Damnit, Gail! You can't do one thing right!"
"I said I wasn't hungry," I say weakly. He shakes his head, placing the plate down on the shelf before walking upstairs. I can hear him walk around upstairs, the floors creaking loudly. I close my eyes for a moment to try and think straight. How long have I been here? I'm assuming one, maybe two days. I slept for a long time when I first got here so it was nighttime again when I woke up. Now it's daylight which could mean it's the second or third day.
"I'm going to the store. Keep quiet," The door slams shut, the sound of him locking the five locks the only thing I hear before he stomps out of the house. I wait a couple minutes, just in case he forgot something and has to come back inside. I lean over, closer to the wall. I reach my hand down, squeezing it between the mattress and the wall. I reach and grab a nail that is stuck between the mattress and the bed. I pull it out successfully before carefully maneuvering it to unlock my cuffs.
After a couple seconds of turning the nail at weird angles, the cuffs unlock. I sigh in relief before shoving the nail in between the bed and mattress before carefully getting off the bed. I look around the basement, trying to find clothes or something I can use to open the locked door. I jump, clutching my chest as the phone rings. Why is there a phone down here anyways? I pick it up. "Hello?" I question quietly, making sure I can hear when the front door opens, in case Danny comes back.
"Abbi! Oh my god, you're okay,"
"Penelope?" I ask, my throat closing as I'm about to cry.
"Yeah, it's me. Where are you?"
"I don't know. I'm in a basement," I try to look outside but all I can see is a fence surrounding the property. "The only thing I can see is a white picket fence,"
"Okay, just stay on the phone. I'm gonna try and triangulate your location," I can hear her nails clicking against the keys on her keyboard. The sound of kings jingling catches my attention.
