Abigail POV
I fix Aaron's tie as he stands in front of me, looking over my head at the TV. The news blares loudly informing us of our next assignment. "You okay?" He nods, not saying anything and not looking at me either. "Aaron," I tug on his tie, forcing him to meet my gaze. "Are you sure you're ready to go back to work?"
"Yes, I'm sure," His gaze softens as he stares down at me. He presses a kiss to my lips before we both grab our bags and head downstairs. I try to ignore the boxes stacked high and the files with Foyet's picture sticking out of them. As we got closer to going back to work, Aaron sort of dove into finding out anything and everything he could about Foyet. It became...jarring.
"Ya know Emily offered to give us a ride to work," I inform as he sets the alarm system.
"And what did you tell her?" He asks as we walk out of the apartment and lock the door behind us.
"I said that we appreciate it but we'll be okay," I answer simply as I hold his hand, swinging or conjoined hands together as we walk towards the elevator. We stay in a comfortable silence and we head downstairs and get into the car, driving to work with the radio playing quietly in the background.
We pull onto the tarmac and pause for a moment, staring at the jet. "Ready?" He inquires. I nod before he gets out of the car, rounding it to open the door for me and help me out. We walk towards it, pausing at the bottom of the stairs. I squeeze his hand and I can feel Aaron tense ever so slightly. He's going into work mode. Switching personas and becoming Hotch. I personally think it's funny that I stay Abbi no matter where I am.
"Here we go," I whisper. He nods, releasing a breath I think he wasn't aware he was holding before we both walk up the stairs and into the jet.
"So our point person in Louisville Is Lieutenant Kevin Mitchell," I overhear JJ inform as Hotch and I walk in.
"Good morning," We both say unintentionally in unison.
"Good to see you," Rossi says softly.
"You, too," Hotch replies before sitting down. I give Rossi a side hug, appreciating his fatherly kiss to my forehead. I smile at him before sitting down next to Hotch.
"You look well, sir,"
"Thank you,"
"Good to see you Abbi," Penelope smiles from the other side of the screen.
"You are a sight for sore eyes hot stuff," I grin back at her with a playful wink. Her smile only brightens to see I'm my fairly normal self.
"How long do you have that?" Hotch questions, pointing to the weird looking cast on Spencer's leg.
"I'm not really sure," He answers honestly, looking at his leg before looking back at us. "Welcome back,"
"Thank you," We say, once again, in unison.
"Any other attacks?" Hotch inquires, getting down to business.
"Um, no, not yet," JJ answers, sounding slightly surprised at the shift to business.
"Call's proven hard to track," Spencer pipes up. "He's never had a driver's license, So he's most likely still on foot,"
"Or public transportation," JJ offers.
"Eeh," I say with a tilt of my head. "He's most likely not gonna take the bus. I mean, his face is everywhere,"
"Has anyone found a stressor?" Hotch inquires, continuing to ask questions to gain insight on where we are so far.
"He just lost his job," Penelope jumps into the conversation. "He's worked at a factory since 1990. Made appliances since forever and not a single promotion,"
