Abigail POV
I walk into the office for the first time in a very long time. I subconsciously fix my blazer and tug on my sleeves, praying that my makeup has covered up any scars or bruises that still remain. I've been out of the game for about a month and a bit. The only reason I'm back is that my therapist finally cleared me, hallelujah.
I walk through the bullpen, the others nowhere to be found. Weird but maybe they're somewhere else in the building. I've missed a lot of good cases according to the case files that Aaron leaves unattended at the table, oh and JJ had a beautiful baby boy named Henry. I walk up the ramp and beeline for Aaron's office, my papers from my therapist held tightly in my hands. I knock once before opening the door to find an empty office.
Round table room. I quickly walk along the catwalk and into the room where everyone is situated. "Rough," I hear Rossi comment. My eyes find the screen to see a blonde girl in her twenties, face down on a carpet with blood all around her stomach and face.
"Ouch," I mutter causing everyone in the room to turn to me.
"Abbi!" Emily quickly gets out of her chair and pulls me into a hug which I openly receive. "What are you doing here?"
"Ready to work," I say honestly as I pull away from the hug, absentmindedly fixing my clothes. I turn to Aaron, well Hotch cause he's in business mode. "I have clearance from my therapist. I can work now," I hand him the papers and watch him quickly scan them over. I turn to Agent Todd, our temporary media liaison. "Good to see you again,"
"You as well,"
"Abbi are you s--"
"I wouldn't be here if I wasn't sure, Derek," I quickly cut him off before he can get into my head.
"Alright, we'll brief you on the plane. Wheels up in thirty. Abigail, can I speak to you in my office for a second?"
I nod and follow him out of the round room and into his office, my fingers nervously tapping my thigh as I trail along behind him. We get into his office and he closes the door behind us before leaning against his desk. "Why didn't you tell me you were coming in today?"
"Cause I didn't want you to talk me out of it," I say with a small smile. "I know you're looking out for me but I'm okay and I'm ready,"
"If at any time you need a break, you are free to take one,"
"Thank you but I won't need it," I go to exit his office but stop before turning around and quickly hugging him tightly. "Thank you, Aaron," I then exit his office as fast as I can before he lectures me about hugging being unprofessional or whatever.
I walk into the bullpen and sit at my desk, sighing in relief at how nice it feels to be back. "So, how was it?"
"How was what?" I question as I look up to see Emily and Penelope.
"You know, staying with Hotch, having him take care of you," Penelope says with a smirk.
"It wasn't sunshine and roses, especially for Hotch," My smile slowly fades as I continue. "I mean I'd have these episodes where I'd freak out and I wouldn't let him touch me or come near me. I even locked him out of my room once,"
"Oh, Abbi," Emily's playful tone leaves as she realizes how hard it's been for me. "I'm so sorry,"
"It's alright. I'm better now and that's all that matters,"
