I stare at myself through the guest bathroom mirror. I look like crap. Sure, I got sleep, but that's only because I cried myself into exhaustion. And it shows too.
Sighing, I make the bed, and leave the guest bedroom and go to the one Tyler and I share. Without knocking I open the door, and see Tyler laying on his back, just staring at the ceiling. He glances at me briefly, then goes back to staring at the ceiling.
"Good morning babe." I say as I go into our closet. So what if he currently finds me untrustworthy, and can't respect me properly, that gives me no reason to be unkind. He is still my husband.
"Morning love." Tyler says.
After I change out of Tyler's clothes, and into a pair of his sweats, I lean against the closet door and watch him.
"I'm gonna tell Mr. Pierce that I'm not gonna be working for him at the slushee shack anymore."
Tyler sits up and looks at me. "You never even started working there."
I just shrug. "It's probably not safe to work while Steve is still out and about."
Tyler nods.
I sigh and head towards the door. "Imma go get the kids up, you need a nice warm shower. When you come down, please try to look like you at least slept a few hours. I love you."
Tyler frowns and nods saying "Love you too." then I walk away.
I go to River and Wyatt first, because their bedroom is the closest. I open the door, and sigh.
"Good morning mother. I've been awaiting your arrival." River says.
I shake my head as I get them ready for the day. Then tell them to go head downstairs and wait for me to go make them breakfast.
I go wake up Christian and Keely, and head downstairs to make the kids breakfast.
"Mommy, where's daddy?" Wyatt asks when I set his breakfast in front of him.
"He's getting ready for work still." I say smiling at Wyatt.
All five of us chat about random things, and Tyler finally comes and joins us. I go and give him his breakfast.
...
Soon enough, it's just Keely and I in this empty house.
Remember how I said I wouldn't breakdown? I guess I was wrong. Because here I am, crying my heart out as my baby sleeps next to me.
I can't make sense of my whole family situation. I can't make sense of why I can't just tell Tyler what happened. I can't make sense of anything right now.
There's a crash from downstairs, and that sobers me up from my pity party. I wipe my eyes as I hold my breath to be able to hear better.
Footsteps. That's what I hear.
Someone here.
My mind goes instantly to Steve.
"Where are you you little bitch!" His deep voice shouts from by where I could only guess to be the kitchen.
I grab Keely from out of the crib next to Tyler and I's bed. And I grab my phone, calling 911.
I go to call, but that's when I hear Steve coming upstairs. He'll find me so much more quickly if I talk. I need to get out of this house first before calling the cops.
Holding Keely tightly to my chest, I look through the window, it's a ways down to the ground. But, there's a way to get on the roof, and from there I could probably jump onto the tree next to our house, I did it enough at my parents house.
