Natalia:
I sit up, noticing Jordan in the seat next to my hospital bed. We talk for a bit before he has to go to school. He offers to stay, I tell him he needs to go; that i’ll be fine while he’s at school. He nods slightly, then leaves, promising to see me soon. As he leaves, a nurse comes in, smiling while holding a tray.
“He hasn’t left your side very much.” She admits.
“The boy that just left?” I ask. She nods, and tries to offer me food. I shake my head; “Not hungry, thanks.” I smile and shut my eyes for a bit more, growing tired for some reason. I wake up with nobody around me, and glance at the wall clock to the right of me. I had slept for six hours; now trying not to think about what the nurse had told me. Doctors keep coming in and out, asking me questions, and running tests. I’m completely out of it, I admit it. Every second feels like an eternity, as I await to speak to Jordan again. Maybe he won’t come again, and that nurse was just confused. Who can know for sure? I come back into reality as a doctor tells me I am free to leave, as long as I take it easy the next few weeks; so my bones heal properly. The doctors tell me I need someone to help me the next couple of days as I get used to walking around and such. I nod, and call Jordan, telling him what the doctors told me. “Will it be too much trouble if you help me with this? I don’t want to bother you.” As I request this, my voice slightly quakes.
