Jordan:
Chris and I sit beside Natalia in Study Hall. Natalia is reading, Chris eating and Andy pacing up and down the hall, lost with what to do with himself. I just sit, deep in thought. Natalia glances at me and puts her book down and asks me “You okay? You seem distracted.”
“Yeah, okay. Just a lot on my mind, you know?” I reply.
“Okay. Let me know if you want to talk,” she smiles. My hand drifts over my left arm, my scars tingling.
“Thanks, Natalia.”
She gets back to her book, but puts it back down a moment later. We chat for a while, about nothing in particular, but I enjoy the company. Chris announced he needs to leave, and Andy follows after, his bag trailing behind him as he runs. Natalia suggests we work on her walking again; she can nearly support herself, but still needs some help. We go for about 15 minutes, first with my full support, then only one arm, and then alone. She manages to get most of the way down the hall, leaning against the wall when done. She looks tired from the effort.
“I need some air, can we go outside for a bit?” she requests.
“Yeah. Of course.”
We leave the school through the back, sitting on a grass behind the building. Natalia is clearly out of breath.
