❝𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐝𝐨𝐠 𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐬, 𝐭𝐫𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐩𝐡𝐚❞i strolled down the hallway, jahseh was long since gone, heading to his second period class despite wanting to spend time with me. said he had some work to catch up on and he was falling behind more than he was comfortable with.
despite it being a sunday, the halls were pretty full. you'd think that people would want to skip or sleep in. we don't get sundays off, only saturdays, which i thought was pretty backwards. apparently they made us take saturdays off instead of sundays because on sundays, the kids in the religious classes basically take part in a youth group, so since they had to have class, everyone had to have class.
i was grateful that jahseh helped me to get something to eat earlier, my stomach was growling and i probably would have stolen something from the commissary had he not come when he did. the food here actually wasn't all that bad, it was good, even, and it was on par with whatever you imagined private school food to taste like. i knew the tuition was a fuckton but it was great to see the school actually do something useful with it instead of using the money for frivolous spending like most private schools do.
the menu always had something good on it, and it catered to all dietary restrictions, which i thought was pretty commendable, because most places i go to for something to eat, their vegan menu is basically rabbit food.
i snapped back into reality when i realized that i was about to bump into lucas. i made a face, confused as to why he was blocking my path. he had a smug expression on his face and it was taking everything in me not to wipe it off.
"fuck do you want?" i asked. lucas propped himself up off of the wall and took a step towards me but i took a step back, furrowing my eyebrows. "don't fucking walk up on me."
"what was that romeo and juliet shit in the hall earlier?" he questioned. i didn't even have to ask what he was talking about, he must have heard jahseh and i confessing our feelings for one another. i sighed internally, we should have done that in a more discreet place, if lucas knew about it then there was no telling how many other people knew about it.
"what are you on about?" i asked anyway, i couldn't let him know that i was aware of what he was talking about.
"you and onfroy."
"what about him?"
"you're his, aren't you? you joined mo?"
"what the fuck are you talking about?" i asked, frustrated. "i tell him i like him and all of a sudden you think i joined mo? get the fuck out of my face!"
"there's no way you haven't. you're with him twenty four seven-"
"i am not with him twenty four seven," i interrupted him. "one, and two, stop fucking following me around! ask him yourself if i joined his dumbass gang, hell, knowing him, don't you think if i joined mo the whole school would know already?"
"following you around? there isn't even any need, it's all anyone can talk about is you too. 'x and billie' this, 'x and billie' that. i don't even have to be anywhere in your vicinity to know about anything that's happening."
"whatever, just tell your sister to stop running rampant trying to get me to join ps. i'm not joining, not now not ever, so she can rest her fucking case. she's getting annoying."
"so what, you're joining mo?"
"just because i'm not joining your dysfunctional ass family-duo-ran gang doesn't mean i'm joining mo. fuck, i can't just be my own person?" i asked, frustrated.
