Chapter 26 - Madam Hydra

(Aspen POV)

I pulled Candice aside while everyone planned their moves. Steve heading the planning like a true Captain.

"Promise me something." I whispered to her hoping no one would be listening. She nodded with worry in her eyes. "Remember the practice we did when you put up a shield on multiple targets at once?"

"Yea what about it? You aren't going to do something stupid are you?" Her eyes widened, her voice got higher. I pulled her further away from the group glancing at Steve who was still giving orders.

"SHHH. Promise me when the time comes, you will save the Avengers and our siblings." I spoke to her sternly so she knew I was serious.

"No Aspen, I know that look....You can't.." Candice put her hands on my arms trying to shake sense into me, but I knew...I knew it might end up being what I needed to do.

"Promise me..." I begged her. She sighed nervously. Then nodded.

"Okay...okay.." Her voice trembled and cracked. I quickly pulled her into a large hug hoping it wouldn't be our last.

"Alright, everyone knows the plan?" Steve called out. We walked back to them. Candice held onto Bucky nervously. He kissed her deeply and whispered something to her making her cry. She whispered back to him making him kiss her deeply again. I knew I was watching them say the words for the first time. They loved each other.

Steve placed his hands on my face pulling me into a kiss as well. "Don't do anything stupid angel, I know how you like risking your life. Today isn't the day to do it. We have a wedding to plan." I nod wrapping my arms around him. I couldn't agree to his terms verbally. It would be lying and I wasn't used to lying to him.

Thor, Natasha, Clint, Steve, Bucky, Sarah, Candice, Zemo, Wanda, Vision, Tony, Loki, and Sam walk out with me to the front courtyard avoiding the hidden traps Tony set up. We waited until we saw my mother. She walked up with Maria, Liza, and John flanking her while a large group of Hydra agents stood behind her with energy weapons ready to shoot.

"Mother" I called out.

"Aspen, you are such a disappointment. I had high hopes for you darling." She didn't move from her spot. "Sarah.." She smacked her tongue at her. I could feel Sarah cringe in fear.

"Don't do that mother, you don't want me upset." I warned her. Her eyes went back to me again. While we spoke Maria and Liza were itching to fight. I could see them picking their targets. 

"That's exactly what I want darling. Then, I want you to cry and beg for forgiveness..."

"I doubt you will have the chance to get to our children Ophelia" Zemo walked up next to me mask on. Liza and John both took a step back surprised he was here while Maria just smiled at him. "Children, I suggest you come home to your father and end this now." He spoke to my siblings now.

"We are doing just fine with our mother thank you" Maria spoke for them, but I could see the others questioning.

"Enough of this" Madam Hydra waved her hand. The Hydra agents stepped forward in unison. The Avengers knew the battle was coming and stood in defense. 

"What the hell are you waiting for kill them!" Maria screamed out. John nervously looked at Liza then joined in the fight. We all separated. Everyone taking the agents trying to clear the way for me to get close enough to my siblings to zap their synapses back in place.

I fought through some agents using my powers to push them back or drain their weapons of energy, Steve close by my side, when I got knocked back by my mother and a whip she used. She laughed at me as Steve quickly pulled me behind some debris that had built up from Johns powers. It had just begun and the backyard looked like a battlefield Steve and Bucky knew too well from war.
