I showered and changed into my outfit. After that, the girls helped me with my hair, which was in a slightly messy high ponytail with some loose curls framing my face. I said I didn't want a lot of makeup so they just put on some eyeliner and some lip gloss. I slipped on my white converse and I was ready to go.I looked myself over in the mirror.
"Well done ladies." Kaori said, high fiving the other girls.
"Y/n, you look stunning." Kiyoko said.
"Thanks Kiyoko." I smiled.
To be honest, ever since I mentioned the date with Kita, Kiyoko's been acting a little different. Not anything too noticeable, but not completely like her normal self. Maybe she was just tired. She had been working hard with the rest of the managers and I.
I brushed it off and smiled at the girls again before we heard a knock at the door.
"You're date's here. Don't keep him waiting~" Yukie teased.
I blushed, grabbed my mini backpack and answered the door.
"Hey Kita." I smiled.
"Hello Y/n. You look beautiful."
"Thanks Kita. You look nice too."
He was wearing a black polo shirt and blue skinny jeans with black sneakers.
"OooOooOh." I heard the girls teasing behind me.
I blushed and shot them a look over my shoulder.
"Go on lovebirds, we wouldn't want to hold you two up." Kiyoko said.
My cheeks heated up more while Kita chuckled lightly.
"Shall we?" He asked, offering his hand to me.
"Lead the way." I smiled, placing my hand in his.
We left and walked down the hallway. We made it out the doors and started walking on the sidewalk in a comfortable silence.
"So where are we going?" I asked.
"Well I was thinking we could go to one of my favorite midnight cafes to get some food before we go stargazing. I suppose I didn't plan it out very well since I don't know where we'll be stargazing." He admitted sheepishly.
"Oh, in that case I know a great place we can go. The scenery is so pretty. It's close to the training camp too so we don't have to worry about going too far." I beamed.
"That's great. We have everything planned out then."
It was quiet for a few more minutes.
"So how long have you been into astronomy?" I asked.
"About 3 years now. What about you?"
"I've liked the moon for as long as I can remember. When I was little I used to call it a present moon." I giggled.
"That's cute." He smiled.
"I- Yeah, I guess it was." I blushed lightly, suddenly finding the ground to be very interesting.
"Oh, we're here." Kita said.
I looked up and saw this cozy cafe. There were windows across the front of it so you could see inside.
Kita opened the door for me and I walked inside after thanking him.
The inside of the cafe was nice. It had dark wood floors and white walls decorated with fairy lights around the ceiling's perimeter. There were real vines around the windows at the front of the cafe. All of the tables in the cafe were square shaped and had 2 to 4 black chairs. Despite the time, it smelled like coffee and fresh pastries. But one thing that really caught my eye was the ceiling.
It was painted like a galaxy. There were spirals of navy and purple with faint streaks of pink. The stars seemed to be glowing- no, they were glowing. There must've been lights behind the ceiling or something. There were even some simple constellations painted onto the ceiling. It was a work of art.
"Do you like it?" Kita asked, noticing the amazed look on my face.
"It's amazing." I beamed, looking away from the ceiling to meet his eyes.
"I'm glad. Do you want to order?"
I nodded and we walked towards the counter. It was a little late for me to try and drink anything caffeinated. Coincidentally we both ended up ordering hot chocolate. We waited for a few minutes before we got our drinks.
"Do you want to stay here for a little while or did you want to start walking to the stargazing spot?" Kita asked once we got our drinks.
"Um, we could start heading out if that's okay with you." I said.
"In that case, lead the way." He smiled as he opened the cafe door for me.
From there we walked back towards the training camp while sipping on our drinks. On the way we talked about some of our other interests which led to us debating which pocky flavor was better.
"No way! Chocolate pocky is superior." I said.
"I don't know about that. The crunchy strawberry one seems like the best flavor." Kita retaliated.
"You think what you like but I'm just stating facts." I said defiantly.
He let out a chuckle, holding back his laugh. I looked up, confused.
"What's so funny?" I asked.
"It's nothing. You're just so defensive." He said.
"And my point still stands." I said, not backing down.
"Okay, okay. You win." He said, holding his hands up in surrender.
I smiled and the training camp gym came into view.
"We're here. I found this clearing in the woods and it's so beautiful there. The flowers are so pretty and the view of the sky is just breathtaking. It's really just-" I realized I was rambling. "Sorry. I'm rambling."
"You seem to really like being around nature." He said.
"I guess I do." I smiled.
To be honest I never really thought about it before but I did spend a lot of my free time outside, even before joining the volleyball club. Outside of skating I would spend a lot of my free time exploring whatever woods I could find. Sometimes I would even get lost.
"Oh, we're here." I smiled as the hill came into view.
He took his eyes off me and followed my gaze to the hilltop.
"Wow."
"I told you it was pretty." I smiled.
"I never said it wouldn't be." Kita said.
I giggled before starting to lead him up the hill. Safe to say this was a great start for our first date.
