Next thing I knew, it was time for lunch. I grabbed my things and headed off to the roof top. Today, I was stopped before I could get to the roof.
I was stopped by Oikawa, who surprised me with a hug. "Hi N/N-chan~"
"What- what do you want?" I mumbled. Oikawa had hugged me out of no where in the middle of the hallway where anyone could see.
"I wanted you to have lunch with me! You always go up to the roof so I thought maybe it'd be nice if you had lunch with me in the cafeteria. Plus, I wanted you to meet my friends." Oikawa smiled.
"I- I don't know, it's always really loud and there are always a bunch of people in there..." My voice was soft as a spoke, and I was still trying to keep my composure. Just seeing Oikawa smile like that was enough to make me melt.
"Please? Just this once? I promise you that I won't ask you to do it ever again!" Oikawa looked at me with puppy dog eyes.
I sighed. "Fine, but only this once."
"Perfect!" Oikawa grabbed my hand and led me over to the table we were going to be sitting at.
The table only had a few other people there, and to my surprise Asako was already sitting there. The other people sitting there were Iwaizumi, Matsukawa, and Hanamaki.
"Hey, is your nose alright? You took that volleyball right in the face at practice the other day." Iwaizumi asked as I sat down with Oikawa.
"Oh, I'm alright, thanks for asking." I replied.
"Look at what we have here. And here I thought that I'd be dead before I ever saw the one and only Y/N sitting in the cafeteria." Asako sarcastically commented.
"In my defense, Oikawa did drag me in here." I held my hands up in a mocking 'I surrender' motion.
"Eh? But you did agree to come and sit with me, right N/N-chan?" Oikawa pouted.
"Yeah yeah, I did agree but you also guilt tripped me." I pouted back at Oikawa.
"Oikawa managed to guilt trip you? Now how exactly did he manage that? I'm surprised that he got you to come here and you didn't just ignore him." Hanamaki commented.
"He used his stupid face and it worked. Like his face is already stupid and then he did that one thing, I don't even know how to describe it, and it worked." I glared at Oikawa before I looked back at Hanamaki. "Also why would I ignore him? I'm not that rude all the time... right?"
"Oh? Well you certainly seem to ignore me." Matsukawa budded in.
"Since when have you ever tried to talk to me? Last I checked the two of us have never spoken a word to each other before now." I tried to think back to when Matsukawa and I may have talked, but I couldn't think of anything.
"Ah, that's weird. We were partners for a group project last year and you did the entire thing without even talking to me. I didn't mind, it was just kind of weird." Matsukawa said.
"Well now that you mention it I kind of remember that, though I also remember having no clue who my partner was throughout that." I responded.
"Are we just gonna go past how you called my face stupid?" Oikawa held his hand on his chest in an offended manner.
"Oh- I- That's- Did I s-say that? I- I didn't mean to say th-that- I- er-" I panicked and began to try and fix my slip up with words. I didn't mean to say that, I just accidentally said the wrong words a lot of the time.
"I can translate, I've spent enough time with Y/N to be able to decode his weird way of talking." Asako cut me off. "He means that he thinks your face is cute and that he likes it."
"A-Asako!" I quickly became more flustered than I already was.
"Am I wrong?" Asako looked at me.
"N-no," I mumbled, "but you didn't have to say it like that!"
"Aw~ It's okay, N/N-chan. I think your face is cute too~" Oikawa wrapped his arms around my shoulders and pulled me into a hug from behind, placing his head on my shoulder.
"Sh-shut up!" I whined.
Asako gasped, and her eyes seemed to light up. "I get it now! Y/N~ You're just a little tsundere! Now that I think about it, it actually just makes you even cuter than before!"
"...what does that even mean?" I asked, tilting my head slightly.
"Just look it up later or something, I'm too lazy to explain it." Asako said, before she began to mumble something. "...plus I'd rather you not chase me around the hallways again."
"You know I heard that, right?" I glared at her. Asako responded by laughing awkwardly and waving her hand in a dismissive manner.
"So, Oikawa, what's with you being so clingy to Y/N all of a sudden?" Iwaizumi asked.
"Can I tell them?" Oikawa looked over to me, and I nodded. "So~ N/N-chan and I are dating, to put it simply."
"Oh, good for you two. If you ever need to make Oikawa leave you alone, Y/N, let me know and I'll distract him for you." Hanamaki jokingly gave me a thumbs up which I returned.
The lunch bell then rang, and all of us went off to our respective classes.
As soon as I got home, I pulled out my laptop and opened google. I searched up urban dictionary and typed in "tsundere".
"Tsundere... is a Japanese term for a character development process that describes a person who is initially cold (and sometimes even hostile) before gradually showing a warmer, friendlier side over time."
I read through that and wondered to myself. How exactly did Asako even know about this term? She had a relatively limited vocabulary which occasionally expanded slightly when she learned a new term in an anime, and that was when I skipped over part of the definition and read another part.
"Originally found in Japanese bishōjo games, the word is now part of the otaku moe phenomenon, reaching into other media such as maid cafés, anime, manga, novels, and even mass media."
Nevermind, now I understand how Asako even knows this word, let alone what it means. That was only the first definition that came up, and there were a few other definitions which said similar, if not the same, thing.
I pouted slightly, "I'm not a tsundere, right?..." I paused to think for a moment about how I acted around Oikawa. "Maybe I am a tsundere..." I mumbled.
