Ember's POV

"YOU WANT TO DO WHAT!?"

Stella covered her ears as Patrick continued to yell. "YOU TWO NEARLY GOT YOURSELVES KILLED LAST TIME YOU WENT BY YOURSELVES! I WILL NOT ALLOW IT!"

"Yeah, tell me something I don't know," I muttered before challenging him. "Why? Would you rather do this yourself? Or are you too scared to send your own people out?"

"It's all about risks, young man," the grandmaster told me.

I yawned. "Isn't war about making risky decisions?" I asked. "I guess that means you're not a good general."

"SHUT UP, AND I COMPLETELY FORBID IT!" Patrick yelled.

"Who made you the judge?" Ceris said. "You should let them go, Patrick, they're not children. They can make their own choices."

There was a heartbeat of silence, then Patrick sighed. "Alright, fine, I'll allow it," he said. "Just be careful, alright?"

"We'll be careful, sire," Stella told him.

"Oh, don't worry," I said. "None of us are Wishing Dead. But Just So You Know The Struggle is real trying to survive without Falling. So maybe we should just say Goodbye right here."

"Wow, puns," Rain said. "Can you not?"1

"What?" I said, before continuing. "My puns are One of a Kind."

Stella facepalmed. "That's it," she said. "We're going to die."

"Yup, you're going to die," Patrick agreed.

"Well, at least we all know who were sacrificing first." Rain said, glaring at me.

"Okay, shut up all of you and let's go." I said, kinda pleased with the annoyed expressions they all gave me.

"Seriously, this place you live in is as Cold as Ice." I told Rain and Stella.

"Shut up!" Rain told me, punching me.

"I am very tempted to yeet you off the a cliff." Stella agreed.

"Alright! I'll stop!" I said, laughing. My mind drifting back to the red Ender eye I kept.

{Time Skip because I'm lazy}

As soon as the two were asleep, I pulled out the red Ender eye, and stared at the faintly glowing eye.

I was tempted to show them the red Ender eye. After all, who knew what importance it held? They might know what it is, and wasn't that what a good friend does?

Never show them the eye, Ember. Something whispered.

Who said that?

Relax, Ember, the voice said. I am not your enemy, but that can change any day now.

Who are you?

I'm your friend, the voice told me. Just don't show them the eye, never tell them about it. Keep this our little secret.

That was the last thing I remembered before blanking out.
