Moon's POV

We were waiting for Stella's signal which would tell us where to meet her.

I also learned three things:

1. Stella is a Netherkin.

2. Rain is in love with her.

3. Both are fed up with Ember's puns and are seriously thinking about killing him.

Ember's puns really don't bother me, but that simply could be because I've been his best friend for years, so I've probably gotten used to them by now.

"Are you sure Stella is going to send that signal anytime soon?" Rain asked, sounding worried. "I mean with her crazy mother and everything?"

"Maybe she won't," Ember said. "Maybe she's dead."

"That's the spirit, Ember," I said.

"I'm not kidding guys!" Rain protested, clearly upset.

"She's probably fine, Rain," Ember said, sounding annoyed. "Unlike you if you kept on fretting about her."

"EmberXMoon!" Rain said in reply.

"What does that mean?" Ember asked.

"Nothing," Rain told him. "I'm just mocking you."

"Wha- what?" Ember stuttered. "SERIOUSLY?"

I burst out laughing, but something was tugging on my mind.

Was it true? Did Ember like me more than a friend?

Me and Ember? Oh, Moon, don't be ridiculous.

Suddenly a glowing sword was thrusted into the air, and after a few seconds it was set on fire, then it disappeared.

"Darn, I was really hoping that we would find her dead body in the chapter, er, I mean today." Ember said.

"Oh, shut up!" Rain told him, glaring at Ember.

Well, like all the people in the survey said: Ember is annoying. Oh, that was like five chapters ago.

"Stella!" Rain shouted, as he picked up his pace.

Ember groaned and began to follow him, shaking his head.

Suddenly, the silhouette of a Netherkin, I had run into a few before, appeared.

"Ember, wait," I began, but he clearly didn't listen, because the next thing I saw was Ember leaping towards the Netherkin, and tackling it.

"ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" The Netherkin yelled. "EMBER! IT'S ME STELLA!"

Rain and I quickly ran over to see that Ember had his blade near the Netherkin's neck.

"Sorry, Stella," Ember muttered, getting off her.

Stella looked like a normal Netherkin, if you didn't count the fact that her eyes were blue and that she didn't look hostile. Unless you count the angry looks she was giving Ember. But other than that, she looked pretty normal.

"Hello," Stella said, extending her hand out to me. "I'm Stella."

"Moon," I replied, shaking her hand.

"Ember told us a lot about you," she said, smiling. "He said we'd get along great."

I grinned. "I think he's right about that," I said in barely a whisper, and Stella grinned.

"Can ya'll both stop whispering?" Ember asked.

"Okay fine," Stella said. "But I swear, if you almost kill me one more time."

"Duly noted!" Ember said, cheerfully. "Come on, Moon!"

I glanced at the others, who both shrugged as we followed our friend.
