Andrea——->
Once I arrived at the police station I went straight to the chief's office.
"S'cuse me miss, but the chief's not in today. He had some personal matters to deal with," a rough voice said from behind me. I turned to see none other than Jeff. See, Jeff is an older, Tennessee guy that has been in the police force for ages.
"Hello Jeff, nice to see you again," I said with a smile. Instead of replying he came up to me and crushed me in a hug.
"Hello darlin' I didn't even recognize you. Did you change your hair or somethin'?" he teased.
"Ha-ha very funny, but yes I did actually" I backfired.
"Don't you start with me now. What brings ya here darlin'?" he asked.
I pull the envelope out of my bag and just hand it to him, I'll let that do that the talking. Jeff was one of the officers that was put on my case. I watched as he opened it and started pulling out the pictures one by one, an unreadable expression on his face.
"This came in with my mail today."
"So he's back huh? Well this me-" he started but was interrupted by a new voice.
"Jeff! Did you eat my cookie? You damn bastard that was mine!" I furrowed my eyebrows at the familiar voice coming from behind me.
I turned to come face to face with non other than Cole. My eyes widened and I quickly grabbed the envelope from Jeff and stuffed the photos back in.
"What a-are you doing here?" I stuttered.
"I should be asking you that, what brings you here?" He asked.
"She was just visiting little ol me, she's my niece" Jeff said covering for me. I mentally thanked him.
"Yeah, just visiting my uncle! So it was nice seeing you....and I'll talk to you later!" I said quickly just waning to get out of this awkward situation.
"Sure will darlin' but don't forget to give me my package" he said while reaching for the envelope. I just nodded and kept my eyes off of Cole even though I can feel his gaze on me.
I gave him a hug and whispered a thank you before making my way to the door. Cole didn't move or say anything as I was leaving....not that I expected him too.
I was halfway across the parking lot when I heard my name being shouted from behind. I turned and saw Cole jogging toward me. I couldn't help the small smile that appeared when I saw him in his uniform. My eyes ranked over his body and liked what was being displayed in front of me.
"Hey I just wanted to let you know that if you needed anything just let me know and I'll try my best to help okay?" he said.
"Ugh yeah okay," I said slightly confused, he didn't even know me yet he's offering to help.
"I just figured that you visiting Jeff wasn't your only reason for stopping by the station today." I didn't even know what to say to that so all I did was start walking to the bus stop.
"Hey Alice let me drive you home I'll feel like a jerk if I don't" he said with a smile.
"Only because I don't want to take the bus" I smiled and praised the lord that he offered me a ride.
It was a short walk to his car and as soon as we were buckled I put my address into his GPS
"Thank you again, I really didn't feel like taking the bus."
"How do you get to work? I'm sure your boyfriend drives you right?" he said casually. I was slightly shocked at the question but didn't let it show in my face.
"Usually my friend Andrea drives us both because she's a teacher there as well, and I don't have a boyfriend," I muttered the last part.
"Are you telling me the truth? You don't have a boyfriend?"
"Is it that hard to believe that I don't? There are a lot of fuckboys in the world and it's very hard to find a descent guy. Most of them are faithfully married or in a relationship, some are cheating while in a relationship, and others are single waiting to cheat while in a relationship," I finished slightly annoyed. "Like yourself for example, your wife probably adores the fact that she got a faithful, handsome man and a beautiful baby girl," I added.
"You think I'm married?" he questioned.
"Well you don't seem like the type to hit it and quit it, I mean you have a child!"
"Do you see a ring on this finger?" he said holding up the ring finger.
"I just thought you would've lost it or something" I mumbled slightly confused on how we even got to this topic.
"Well no I didn't, and just so you know, I'm single" he said with a smirk while adding in a wink and all I could do was look at him with wide eyes.
Did he? Did he just wink at me and blatantly hint that he was very, very single?
Well hey if he's tryin' to holla, go for it!
I mentally scolded my subconscious for even thinking that. He's my students father for Christs sake! After a very awkward silence he decided to speak up,
"You think I'm handsome?" He grins.
"Yeah, no point in trying to deny it" I replied honestly.
"Then why don't you let this handsome man take you to dinner?" As he said this we had just pulled up to my apartment complex.
"I don't get involved with my students parents, bye" I said quickly and shut the door.
Once in my apartment I collapsed on the couch.
Why didn't I say yes?!
