Alice Sanders on the side ---->
I look at my watch and curse under my breath, I'm going to be so late for work. Let me introduce myself, I'm Alice Sanders, I'm 23 years old, and a kindergarten teacher. I love my job and wouldn't want to get fired for being late. So that's why I'm racing through the halls trying to get to my classroom so I don't have to deal with angry parents in the early morning. Unfortunately nothing has gone my way this morning as I received many glares from grouchy mothers.
"Your late Ms. Sanders, I have to go to work and I can't be spending all my time waiting for you!" complained on the many moms standing in the door frame.
"Yes I understand Mrs. Till, but everyone is late once in a while. That includes teachers as well, but I'm here now so you can go on ahead to your job," I said politely just wanting all the moms to leave. Sure enough after about 20 seconds of glaring they finally did. I went to my desk putting all of my things away and waited for the kids to get seated and settled.
"You seem stressed and it's only 8:30," someone said from the door. I turned my head, a smile making it's way onto my face as I saw my best friend Andrea. We've been best friends since high school and all throughout college. Both of us were able to achieve our goals of becoming teachers and were even able to get jobs at the same school.
"Moms are ruthless in the morning," I joked. "And thanks for covering for me during the announcements, I was running very late this morning."
"No problem everyone has those days now and then. Seems like your kids are waiting, I'll see you at break," she smiled and went off to her own classroom just across the hall.
"Ms. Alice what are we learning today" asked my favorite voice. I looked down and saw Jasmine tugging on the ends of my grey cardigan. I know teachers aren't supposed to have favorites but this little girl is by far my favorite student. She's so sweet, loving, and adorable, her parents are very lucky to have her. Although what's strange is that in the two months we've been in school I've never actually seen her parents. They always drop her off before I'm here and pick her up after I leave. I'm guessing they're workaholics because I always see her in the morning and after-school program.
"Well class, we're going to do an art project and read a new book together as a class" I said and the whole class gasped excitedly. This is why I love my job, they're bright smiles and eager antics make everything worth it.
"What kind of project!" a boy yelled from the back.
"You guys are going to have to wait and find out!" I teased. "Jas, why don't you go and sit down yeah?" I said softly crouching down to her level.
"Okay, Ms. Alice" she quickly went to her desk and sat down, too cute.
I walked to the front of the class all of their little eyes on me waiting to hear what I have to say.
"So boys and girls, I was thinking that if get through everything we need today then we can have a movie day tomorrow!" I said and clasped my hands together, watching their faces light up.
"Yes Ms. Alice" they said in a sing-song voice.
"Alright let's get started," I turned toward the whiteboard behind me and began writing the directions. "I want everyone to take out their writing workbooks and do pages 26 to 30. The pages are on the board and if you have any questions come to my desk and I'll help you okay?"
"okay," they all said together once again.
I went to my desk and started grading papers. It wasn't all that hard I just had to grade drawings they've done or assignments they completed.
