Cole's POV

I couldn't explain the emotions and thoughts that went through my head when I went to Alice's apartment and read the letter. At first, I was shocked, I couldn't believe the words that were written on that paper. After, I was angry, angry at the fact that she basically killed herself. And lastly, I was devastated, heartbroken, that I couldn't do anything to help her because I had no idea where she was.

When I walked into her apartment I didn't expect to be met with silence. I got off of work early so that I could surprise her and take her out to dinner but instead of finding her, I found her letters. As soon as I recovered from my shock I immediately called Andrea to find out if she had any idea where she was. Once she heard the news she rushed back to the apartment with Will trailing behind her. I can still remember the conversation word for word,

"What do you mean, 'do I know where she is?!'" said Andrea as she stormed in.

"I mean that she left all these letters here and left! She wants to finish everything with Chuck and Alex," I said.

"We have to find her! She can't be there all alone and do this by herself. She can't! She'll die and I can't lose my best friend," Andrea sobbed loudly and Will rushed to her side.

"Babe, please calm down."

"Calm down?! Calm down?! Don't fucking tell me to calm down! My best friend could be dead and you're telling me to calm down?" she exclaimed angrily before pushing him away. Will refused to let go and just continued to hold her while she cried.

All of sudden her phone chimed and she pulled out her phone and stared at it with wide eyes.

"What's wrong?" I had asked her.

"It's from Alice, that dumb bitch sent me her fucking location," she said with a small chuckle. She chucked me her phone and I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw where she was. It wasn't too far, just about 20 minutes but I was worried because a lot can happen in 20 minutes.

"Andrea, Will, follow me to the car, let's go," I said making my way to my car. I grabbed my police radio and called dispatch, "This is Officer Scott, I need back-up and paramedics down at Chevy's, the old warehouse just off the 78."

"This is dispatch responding, sending units to the scene now."

That's what happened right before I barged into the warehouse and saw the love of my life slipping away. I sprinted toward her with Andrea hot on my heels.

I crouched down and couldn't stop the tears that came down as I saw the life slowly drain from her eyes as they were closing shut. I was drenched in blood but I didn't care as I shouted, "Alice, fight baby! Come on, you have to fight, for us, for our daughter! This isn't it!"

The paramedics rushed in and immediately tried to push me aside but I couldn't move, it was like I was stuck, bound the ground.

"Cole, you gotta move! They have to get her to the hospital or she'll die!" exclaimed Will and once his words sunk in I let her go but followed her all the way to the ambulance but not before giving Will my car keys.

"Sir we can't let you through, she is in critical condition," said one of the EMT's.

"If you think I'm not going with her you're an idiot!" I shouted and pushed past him and sat down next to Alice. I gripped her hand as I began whispering prayers of hope. Not long after the ambulance was zooming down the street and to the hospital.

When we arrived at the hospital, Alice was rushed into ER. I wanted to follow but I knew better and instead just made my way to the waiting room. Andrea and Will rushed in and sat down next to me to wait for the impending news.

"She'll be okay, she has to be. She's strong and she will get through this, she has to," said Andrea whispering the last part and clutching onto Will's hand as a tear rolled down her cheek.

"Cole, I called your mom to tell her what happened. She said that she'll watch Jasmine for as long as you need her too," Will told me gently.

I tried to give him a grateful smile but I'm sure it came out pained. All I wanted to do was go in the room and see how she was, not knowing anything was killing me and I needed to know what was going on. If she doesn't make it, I don't know how I'm going to get past it. I've never had these types of emotions toward any woman before, I love her and I never want to let her go, I can't let her go.

After some time Andrea began to grow antsy, "Why haven't they told us anything?! I'm sure this is illegal or something!" she exclaimed while walking up to the nurse at the front desk. "Hey, you! Could you maybe tell us what's going on with our friend instead of sitting on your lazy ass!?"

"Babe maybe you shoul-" Will began.

"I would listen to your boyfriend young lady, I won't tolerate that type of behavior in this hospital!" the old nurse scolded.

"This type of behavior?! My friend can be on the brink of dying and your not even going to tell us what can be happening!?" she seethed before placing her attention on me, "and you!  How can you be so calm when they haven't told us anything?"

"Because I've haven't been able to process what's actually happening, it doesn't feel real to me! I don't want it to be real! Do you not think that I'm freaking out? It's killing me not knowing what's happening to her and I don't need you reminding me every two seconds! In case you forgot, I'm a cop and I've been in these situations hundreds of times and I know the drill, the doctors will come out and tell us everything we need to know once they have done everything. The only thing that I could do is stay calm because if I don't I'll be a mess just like you and be on the brink of getting kicked out of the damn hospital. So why don't you just be quiet, sit down and wait?" I finished.

Andrea stared at me with sad eyes before listening to my words and taking a seat next to Will once again. I let out a deep breathe before getting lost in my thoughts before Andrea began speaking again.

"That's why we had that girls night and she got all sentimental, It's because she already knew what she was going to do and that there was a chance she wasn't going to make it out alive," she said sadly. Before I had a chance to respond the doctor, finally, made his way toward us.

"Alice Sanders' family?" he said which caused us to stand up and rush toward him.

"Thank the fucking lord, what's the news?" asked Andrea.

"Well, she was bleeding internally and therefore had to go into emergency surgery but we were able to stabilize her. I have to be honest, we lost her a couple of times but she's a strong girl and fought through it. We placed her into a medically induced coma so that way her body can begin to heal, she's physically exhausted and the coma will just help her heal. She shouldn't be out too long, maybe a day or two. When you are ready you can go in and see her, just one at a time for right now though."

"That you so much doctor, really, for everything that you've done," said Andrea with tears welling up in her eyes. The doctor gave her a genuine smile before walking off to see to other patients.

"You guys go first because once I get it, I don't plan on coming out anytime soon," I said with a small smile.

Andrea rushed in and was in there for about 10 minutes before she can out with sleepy eyes and a smile. "Our girl is strong and she's going to be A-Okay."

"Okay babe, let's get you out of here and to bed, you can barely keep your eyes open," Will said while placing his arm around her and guiding her out. "We'll come by tomorrow and don't worry I'll call the chief and let him know you won't be going into work."

"Thanks man, I'll see you tomorrow," I said as I made my way into Alice's room.

My heart ached as I saw her lying there in the hospital bed. Her face was pale and bruised but she didn't look like she was in pain; she looked happy. I pulled a chair and placed it right next to her bed and grabbed her hand. I bent down and placed a chaste kiss upon her lips and whispered, "I love you." I sat down and gripped her hand with both of mine and just laid my head on the bed and let the tears of relief and joy fall.

"She's fine. She's okay. My love is still here."
