Isn't it so beautiful
How even on the rainiest most coldest bitterest of days
The sun still shines
Even just for a millisecond
As if to say –
It will be okay
Some day,
This too will be
Just a memory.
Isn't it kind of wonderful
How being away from everyone
All the noise
The traffic
And the race
Has made me feel less lonely
Than I had felt for months
Isn't it strange how we chase things we can't have,
Without realising
That all that we ever need
To be happy
Is right here
Inside of us
We keep looking forward
Reaching out for the light in front
But –
I've come to realise
That maybe there is no 'light at the end of the tunnel'
Maybe there will never be a "someday"
Maybe this is all we have.
And the strangest thing is,
Being okay with the 'now'
Has set me free
From the pressures of 'tomorrow'
Tomorrow is a foggy land
Always eluding us –
Seeming so close
But always out of our grasp
But today is here
It is hard
And it is painful and it gets you down
Yet –
It is here and it is raw and it is real.
The only real thing we have.
And today, you are also here
To look at that sky one more time
To talk to those trees
And sing with the birds
And to be with the people you love most
You are here
Against all odds
And that is the miracle.
The miracle was never in the unreachable.
It is here –
Inside the part of us
That keeps on believing.
The golden part of us
That wakes up every day
Trying to make sense of it all
Trying to make it through
Despite the pain in our hearts,
Yet it still tries,
To see the wonder
And,
To close our fingers around the magic
That is 'today'.
