Burning ball of orange dims
Gentle now
For its last scene
Prepares itself for a standing ovation
To honour its old human friend
They walk back
Slower now
every step
heavier
than its predecessor
They pick up the flowers
Bits of paper and plastic
Floating around
They pick it up all and leave
Me alone.
Dry your tears
Lift your shoulders up
The pain will ease
Will fade like this sun
Leave me now
Leave me be
Here alone –
To bask in this light
This sea
Of my old friend
Here now
In the arms
Of my long-time lover
Alone and
Kissed once more
By its rays and beams
Its glow, its fire
Iridescent as ever.
Goodbye old friend
Companion of all times
Take care now
Burn brightly for me
Until we meet again someday
In another life, in another time.
