Chapter 8: The daily life of the Huntsmens

(The next day, Narrator's POV)

The sun was rising over Atlas Academy, and the team KNRD was still asleep. That is, until Penny walked into the room.

"SAL-U-TATIONS!" She shouts, making the team wake up with a start. "Good morning, team KNRD!" She waves.

"Penny, what did we say about the wake up call?" Resare growls.

"Oops! Sorry!" Penny apologizes by covering her mouth with her fingertips.

"What time is it?" Night asks.

"It's time to be Hunsmens!" Penny exclaims.

"Okay, we're coming." Krystal replied. The whole team got out of bed and went to get dressed.

(Later)

After getting dressed, the team KNRD went to the briefing room, where everyone was waiting for them.

"Hi guys!" Emerald greets the team.

"Hi. Sleep well?" Night asks his sister as he sits down next to her, while Resare started yawning.

"Yes, even though the wake up call was a little rough and Nora was snoring like a reactor." The mint-haired girl replied. Since the Licensing ceremony, Emerald has teamed up with Jaune, Nora and Ren.

"Don't worry, we know what it's like: we had the same wake-up call and we have the same kind of snorer." Resare told her humorously as she sat down with the rest of her team next to Night. Everyone expected Dragon to complain about that remark.

"Yeah, no, I'm not gonna say anything this time." The faunus said before seeing Clover enter the room.

"Eyes up, Huntsmen. Time to get used to your new normal in Atlas." Clover tells them. "Your top priority is Amity Tower. That means protecting supply runs from Grimms and bandits. And protecting the site itself. Diverting all construction resources to Amity Tower means there are going to be gaps in Mantle's defenses against Grimm. They'll need help on the perimeter. But there is still plenty to do in Mantle itself. I think you'll find everyone appreciates having a Huntsman around. You're of course free to enjoy your time off as you see fit. Whatever helps you take the edge off." Clover explains to the new recruits.

"Does everyone understand?" He asks. Everyone affirmed with a nod. "All right. Let's get to work!" Clover exclaims.

(From Blake and Yang's side)

Blake and Yang went with Marrow to clean a mine entrance. Marrow shot two Beowolfs that were running at him before looking at the girls:

"Hey, have you two ever thought about branching out a little?" He asks them. "You always pair up, but I don't know if your styles really..."

Suddenly, Yang runs at a Beowolf to headbutt it before sticking some explosives on the Grimm. Blake threw her weapon to the blonde girl, who grabbed it before planting it in the Grimm's body and sending it into the air. The faunus sent the Beowolf after other grimms near the entrance before Yang's grenades blew the monster away. Marrow looked at the girls, who looked at him with a displeased look.

"Really... Really good stuff! Yeah, keep it up!" He tells them.

(From Emerald's side)

The young woman went down into the sewers with Elm to chase a Sabyr that had taken refuge there. The two women move forward silently before seeing the Grimm appear out of nowhere and charge at the two women. Emerald shoots at the monster, who dodges the bullets before jumping on the young woman. Elm grabbed the monster by the fangs before spinning around and throwing it further away. The Sabyr gets up before shaking its head.
