Chapter 14: Cordially invited

(Team RWBY's Room, Narrator's POV)

Team RWBY had invited Team KNRD and Oscar to their room after receiving invitation letters from Jacques Schnee. The group of girls and Oscar were waiting in the room before the team KNRD opened the door and entered.

"There you are at last." Weiss told them before seeing a folded letter in Night's right hand.

"Did you get one too?" Blake asks him. The young man nods his head

"This is the letter from Master Corporal Shin. He gave it to us." He replied.

"So? What do you think, Weiss?" Dragon asks the former heiress.

"I think only my father would turn a hostile takeover into a luffy PR move." She replied as she looked at her letter.

"On the news, he said he just wanted to break bread and hash things out. Maybe it wo't be so bad. We do want the general to start opening up to these people, right?" Ruby says to everyone naively.

"You know, if I don't watch the news, there's a reason: It's because there's always a difference between what's said and what is. Krystal replied.

"That's right. Ironwood's going to be locked in a room at his rival's own dinner party. I know Jaques said he's happy to moderate, but all that really means is he'll be the one controlling the conversation." Oscar told Ruby.

"And it doesn't take a high IQ to figure out that he'll turn the conversation to his advantage." Resare adds. 

"Not hard to imagine how that's gonna play out." Blake comments.

"I still can't believe he won. Robyn was supposed to be the people's champion, wasn't she ?" Weiss asks.

"Indeed." Dragon replied. "But we think we have an idea how he could have won." He said to the heiress. Yang looked at the team KNRD.

"You really think Jacques Schnee might have something to do with Salem?" She asked them.

"You got it all figured out." Night replied. Everyone looked at the young man before turning back to Weiss.

"I think my father would do whatever it takes to win." She told the group.

"And we should do the same." Ruby told her.

"Meaning...?" The ex-heiress asked her.

"Well, no one knows your father better than you. And out of everyone going tonight, I'd say you're the only one who could snoop around the house and not be questioned. If Jacques Schnee is up to something...I think we should know what it is." Ruby replied.

(The same evening)

Night had just fallen on Atlas, and the northern lights could be seen in the sky. Five cars and a motorcycle were headed to the Schnee family mansion. The vehicles stopped in front of the entrance to the huge building before everyone got out. Everyone was there: RWBY, KNRD and JNR teams, Ace-Ops, Qrow, Luka, Penny, Winter and General Ironwood. Once again, only Emerald was missing. The general was looking at the huge building next to Winter.

"Suppose we should smile for the cameras?" The general asks Specialist Schnee.

"Sir, with all due respect, you'd have to paid me." She replied. Night unfolded the stand of his motorcycle before putting his foot down and getting off. As he was the only one on it, he took the time to remove the sidecar.

"It's too bad you didn't get in a car, we were really comfortable!" Dragon laughs at his friend.

"There was no more place, you fool." Resare answered him with a cold tone.
