(Narrator's POV)

After escaping the soldiers at Mantle, Night and Dragon returned to Atlas, completely exhausted. The two Huntsmen walked through the corridors of the academy before arriving at the door of their dorm.

"Well, that was a pretty eventful night, wasn't it?" Dragon asks his friend.

"Tell me about it. All this for nothing." Night replied. Dragon looked at Night, arching an eyebrow.

"So she's not going to stop?" He asks him.

"No. Not until she knows the whole truth." The dark haired young man replied. The faunus sighed before resting the side of his head against the door.

"I understand she wants to protect Mantle, but what she's doing is not good for us." He complained.

"Night Sustrai?" A voice called out. When the duo looked to see who was speaking, they saw Ciel, who was standing in front of them.

" Hey, Ciel. What do you want?" Night asks her.

"Well, it seems to me that this morning you wanted to see your sister, right?" She asked him.

"Yeah?" He replied.

"Well, she just left the Maiden's room. She's in the infirmary. I'll go with you. She's been waiting for you for 6 minutes and 43 seconds." Ciel told him. Dragon chuckled before nudging Night.

"He won't make her wait any longer!" He said to Ciel in a mocking tone.

(In the infirmary)

Emerald was lying in bed. The room was silent, except for the repeated beeping of her monitor. She looked up at the ceiling of the room before looking at the bandage around her abdomen and sighing. The door to the infirmary opened:

"Emerald Sustrai? Your brother just arrived." Ciel informs the young woman.

"Thank you, Ciel." She replied. The dark-skinned woman left the room, closing the door behind her, leaving Night and Emerald alone. The young man approached Emerald's bed before grabbing a chair, placing it to the right of the bed and sitting on it, forearms on the armrests and legs crossed.

"How do you feel?" Night asked his sister.

"I'm feeling better. They're just giving me some treatment, and normally I'll be able to go out in three days." She replied in a reassuring tone.

"Great." Night replied with a smile. "You're not too bored?" He asked. Emerald chuckled.

"Less than I thought. The general has me spending my days at the Maiden's side, but I guess you already know that." She replied.

"Yes, Ciel told me about it. What do you do all day?" Big brother asked her.

"The Maiden, Fria, really likes painting. We spend our days painting canvases, and she teaches me a couple of things. She's really talented. You'd see her paintings, you'd be blown away. I really like her painting of Mistral." The little sister replied.

"I guess. You like her a lot, I see." Night said to Emerald.

"Yes." She replied before sighing. "You know, ever since our parents died... I've been looking for someone who could take care of me... I was wrong to think that Cinder could fulfill the role of mother... But Fria... She is the closest thing I have to a parent. I know her days are numbered, but I'd like to spend as much time with her as possible before she dies." Emerald said to her brother.

"Did you talk to her about it?" The young man asked her. Emerald simply nodded. Night lowered his head.

"I need to see her. And while I'm there, I'll tell her how you feel. Tell me where she is, please." Night asked her in a soft tone.
