Chapter 10: Sparks

(The next day, Resare's POV)

I was in a truck with Night, Penny, Qrow, Clover and Ruby to take a load to the Amity Colosseum. Penny and Ruby were sitting in the front, Qrow and Clover were playing cards, and me and Night were sitting right in front of the back doors of the truck.

"Not that I'm bored, but why can't we just use an airship to take these supplies to Amity?" Ruby asks Penny.

"The components for Amity Tower's construction are far too heavy. All that weight would require precious Dust we should be saving for the launch itself. And the Grimm that will come after." Penny replied.

"It just makes for long, very long supply runs." Ruby complained. It's a long drive, we've been driving for over two hours and we're seriously bored in this truck.

"At least the tundra is scenic." Penny puts it into perspective. Sure, it's pretty, all that snow as far as the eye can see, but it's not the kind of landscape I could look at for two hours either.

"Totally." Ruby replied. She was close to falling asleep on Penny's shoulder.

"Ruby, I just wanted to tell you how excited I am to be working with you in a professional capacity! As friends!" Penny said to Ruby.

"Me too, Penny." Ruby replied.

"Relationships are so interesting and varied." Penny exclaimed.

"Speaking of friends... Have you been able to make any new ones? Since... You know...?" Ruby asked. I heard Night sigh:

"Bored, huh?" He asked me.

"Yeah." I replied.

"Don't you want to play a game of cards?" Clover offers.

"No thanks." I replied.

"That's a shame. It will keep you busy instead of doing nothing. But hey, if you don't want to..." He told us.

"Everything going alright up there?" Qrow asked Ruby and Penny.

"Just fine, Uncle Qrow." Ruby replied. Clover put down his deck of cards.

"I win again. Maybe we should call it quits?" He says to Qrow.

"Shut up and deal." Qrow replied coldly. I laughed.

"Wouldn't you be a bad sport, Qrow?" I ask him humorously.

"Don't add to it." He replied.

"Your niece sure is one of a kind. huh?" Clover says to Qrow as he shuffles the cards.

"They all are. Been through a lot together." Qrow replied.

"It's a good thing they had someone to look up to and get them through it. Not everyone is so lucky" Clover replied before dealing the cards. "By the way, Night. There's a story that's been swirling around you for a while" Clover told him.

"Really?" Night asked, arching an eyebrow

"Yeah. Apparently you took down a White Fang group when you were still in school at Pharos. Is that true?" Clover asked him.

"Yeah." He replied in a weary tone.

" Ya really did that?" I asked him. He just answered me with a shake of his head.

"How about you tell us?" Clover asked. Night looked at the Ace-Ops before sighing.

"To make it easy, I was looking for someone, and that someone was working with the White Fang not far from Pharos, so I fucked up to dislodge her, but she got the hell outta there.
