"Aww man, I got like no agencies"

"Me neither!"

(Y/n) tried to have a neutral face as she read the board

(Y/n)- 1054 offers

'That's rough buddy'

'Omfg I'm the funniest person alive'

She continued to enjoy her thoughts, anything to keep her mind off of the tension between her and the boy who sat next to her.

The two hadn't spoken since the hospital room, and now that the internships were coming up in a few days, (Y/n) was afraid that they would drift apart and then settle like that.

But she was trying not to bother herself too much as her goal from the beginning of the sports festival was accomplished. She had gotten an offer from nighteye agency.

She looked up to the former sidekick of allmight, she compared herself to him a lot actually. They both had non traditional quirks that didn't necessarily help in combat situations, so they both had to rely on natural abilities. (Y/n) longed to be similar to the strategical genius that Nighteye had built himself up to be. He rose the ranks expertly and now that she could finally meet him, (Y/n) couldn't wait.

She glanced over at the boy aside her out of instinct, usually meeting his gaze and the two sharing a smile. (Y/n)'s eyes were never met though.

And for the days leading up to the internships, they were continually avoided.

—————

The morning came when the class was at the train station. (Y/n) clutched her suitcase filled with her clothes, hero costume, and other amenities, and she also held a small backpack that carried her personal items along with some of her unfinished homework.

"Alright, I want you all on your best behavior"

Aizawa continued with his lecture but no one payed much attention. The entire class was buzzing with excitement.

As the trains came to pick them up, (Y/n) was left with a few of her classmates as their trains were the last to arrive. One of whom being Shoto.

She couldn't help herself from continuing to steal glances at him, but it wasn't only in that moment. (Y/n) hadn't been having a very pleasant week, she practically lost one of her best friends, the only form of interaction being his presence in class. He had reverted to eating back on the roof as well, and even though her stomach was getting much better, she still noticed that the only time he noticed her, all he could stare at was her stomach, where he had scared her.

'Why can't he let me have a say'

She didn't even really know why he distanced himself from her, it didn't make any logistical sense. Maybe it was self disappointment? She tried not to think too much about it, opting to wait for him to come around rather than approach him about it. She might have been sociable but she felt it was more a personal thing.

'He knows I'm not mad at him, that's all I can really do I guess'

(Y/n) noticed her train had arrived and began walking towards the edge of the platform. She looked back to see that finally, FINALLY, he seemed to notice something about her other than the injury he gave. She sent him an excited smile and made a small heart with her thumb and index finger. She didn't wait for his response as she turned around, walked onto the train with her luggage, and started to listen to music as she zoned out, on her way to Nighteye agency.

—————

The doors open on the train and she sees a large man in a familiar uniform, the UA uniform to be exact. He looks oddly familiar and (Y/n) jogs up to him.

"Hey! Are you from UA high school too?"

It was a stupid question but it was the best she came up with in the moment, and it was effective in grabbing his attention as he shot her a big smile once he saw who she was.

"Yeah! You do too I'm assuming!"

She nodded and smiled brightly, his voice was so chipper.

"What's your name, you look awfully familiar"

"You can call me Mirio!"

'That name, it sounds so... OH MY GOD HES ONE OF THE BIG THREE'

(Y/n)'s eyes widened and her mouth grew slightly agape.

He chuckled at her reaction.

"What about you? What's your name?"

"Uhh, my name is (Y/n)"

"Alright then, it's nice to meet you (Y/n)!"

The third year laughed a bit at the pure shock on her face.

"You're such a big inspiration to me Mirio, you're so strong, and you're so hard working, I just want to know how!"

"How what?"

"How did you become so strong, even though your quirk, it's uhhh... okay I'm sorry I don't know how to put this, it just seems like it would be a bit of a-"

"Setback?"

She blushed at this.

"W-well yes, but that's not to be rude, if anything it makes you even more admirable because-"

Mirio let out a hearty laugh and cut her off.

"You know, I think you're the first person to actually notice."

He looked forward and the two began to walk, somehow inferring they were both going to the same place, he began to talk and she began to listen intently to the upperclassman.

"A lot of people think I was blessed with such a strong quirk, ya know being able to phase through stuff, say, how do you even know about me?"

"Are you kidding, you're practically famous! You're the closest thing the school has to a top charting hero regarding the actual students. I watched you during the sports festival while I was in the ICU"

"Oh right, weren't you that girl who got 3rd?"

(Y/n) felt her pride surge through her body and she nodded excitedly. She realized though that they were now at the agency and she asked her knew (hopefully) friend the thing she asked all of her others.

"Would you perhaps spar with me some time?"

Mirio smiled

"Maybe not with our quirks, but gladly!"
