"Thank you" (Chapter 2)

Chris and Karl continued taking and joking around. It was around noon when Chris and Katie first showed up, Katie came back around 4. Shawn had been outside playing tag with Lauren and Sarah and it was now 8pm. The three of them were sitting on the floor in the empty room talking

Chris POV

"Katie you can't have grey". Karl repeated for the millionth time. Katie was currently laying on the floor with grey sleeping on her chest.

"Why, he doesn't even have anywhere to sleep" Katie complained dramatically. "There's no furniture in your house, I don't live very far either, you can see my house from your window" she said pointing to one of the windows. The other window was the one that was directly across from mine.

"He'll be fine" Karl said.

"No he won't" Katie said dramatically. I laughed at the two. They'd been going back and forth over grey for the last 20 minutes.

"Except defeat Kates" I said.

"Never" she said confidently and looked at Karl. "Pretty please, I'll take care of him, just one night". Karl sighed.

"If my mom says yes" Katie put her hands up.

"You know if you have grey over, you can't sleep over" I said. Katie slept over at my house all the time.

"Why" she asked and I looked at her before she realized. "Ohhh right, you gotta dog" Katie looked at grey. "I'll live, I'd rather sleep with grey for a night". I rolled my eyes and said sarcastically.

"I'm gonna be lonely tonight, I feel hurt" we all laughed.

"See if dum dum can come over" she said pointing at Karl with her foot. "He doesn't even have a bed yet". The moving truck with his stuff in it didn't show up until later tomorrow.

"So I go to his house and you steal my cat" Karl asked and Katie shrugged.

"Sounds like a fair deal to me" I said as Karl's mom walked in.

"What's a fair deal" his mom asked standing in the doorway. She seemed really happy today.

"Can Karl sleep over at Chris's house and the cat sleep at mine" Katie asked still laying down with grey still asleep on her chest. That cats a heavy sleeper.

"Depends, where do you two live" Mrs.Jacobs asked.

"I live right next door-" I said pointing to the window that was directly across from mine. "-and Katie lives across from me".

"Wow when I was told you two lived close, I didn't think you meant that close" she said and then answered. "Yes to both questions as long as your parents are ok with it". Katie put her hands up.

"Yay, I get to to cuddle with grey tonight" she seemed happy and I smiled. Karl's mom then looked at Karl.

"Are you sure you want to spend the night" she asked as Karl nodded.

"It's only next door, I'll be fine".

"Ok, well if that's what your three are doing, you should probably go now, it's already 8". We all stood up (Katie holding grey) and walked out. Karl was telling Katie everything about grey and I was behind them. Mrs. Jacobs stopped me.

"Thank you, a lot". She said and I smiled but was confused. "I know you don't fully understand what I mean but this means a lot, so thank you".
