Chapter 5 : pain

Y/N's POV

It's been days now. No one came to me. I still have nightmares... I can't sleep, I can't eat, I can't do anything. I'm starting to lose hope. I just want to sleep, I want peace.. Please.. I'm losing myself

Pain.. That is the only thing that I can feel. So that's why I keep hurting myself with everything I can find. With the cuffs, the plastic knives or just by punching the walls. I feel alive when it hurts. Plus I don't have anything else to do so..

The guard came with the food. Obviously I won't eat but there is a knife. So I take it and start cutting myself. I watch the blood flow. It appeases me. But I have to cut deeper and deeper because the pain fades away too quickly.

Just when I was about to do a new cut, I'm starting to feel dizzy and someone rushes into the room, throws the knife away from me and carries me in their arms and takes me out of the room. I think they're talking to me but I can't really understand what they are saying. And then everything went black.

AVENGERS's POV

The whole team just came back from a few days' mission. They're all exhausted and want to sleep and take a shower.

"Maybe one of us should check on the kid. We didn't see her for days now." Implied Tony.

"That can wait until tomorrow right?" asked Bruce.

"Maybe we can just watch the footage to see if she is okay" suggested Steve

"Alright. J.A.R.V.I.S. can you show us the footage from the surveillance cameras in Y/N cell please." ordered Tony

"Of course Sir." replied J.A.R.V.I.S.

Then the images appear on the screen of the room and everyone gasps in shock.

"Oh my God..." whispered Bruce while Steve and Nat ran to your cell.

Steve kicks the door open, rushes to your side, carries you and takes you to the infirmary. Blood everywhere, on his suit, on the floor, on his arm... But he doesn't care.

"You are gonna be okay y/n..... BRUCE IN THE MEDICAL BAY NOW" said Steve while Nat went to shout to the guards.

"YOU ! YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO WATCH OVER HER AND TO KEEP HER SAFE ! WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU DOING ??" shouted Nat angrily. The guards took a few steps back by fear.

"I.. We... hum...She... Just... hmmm..." one of the guard stuttered

"If you can't even make a whole sentence what are you doing here? You are all unbale! USELESS ! Out of my sight ! NOW !"

After the guards left, Nat take a deep breath and thinks:

Why do I even care that much?

She then sighs and goes to find Steve and Bruce in the med bay. But she finds the whole team there. When she enters, the team takes a quick glance at her and then focuses on what Bruce was saying.

"She is really weak. Not only because she lost a lot of blood but I think that she didn't get a lot of sleep or a lot of food lately. Her tests' results are not really good. Her iron levels are low, as are her calcium and glucose levels. She needs energy and a blood transplant. And when she'll wake up we will have to be sure that she is eating and sleeping. Otherwise it will kill her." explained Bruce

"Isn't that what she wants?" questioned Clint, earning a death glare from Nat and Steve, making him gulp.

"Hmmm I don't think so. At first glance we could have said that she tried to kill herself, but I think that if she really wanted that, she would have done it. She seems to want something else. Maybe our attention. I don't know. I guess one of us will have to ask her." replied Bruce quietly

"I think it's best if you're the one talking to her Nat." said Steve and continued when he saw the confused face of his friend. "I mean, you're a girl... she is a girl... You are two girls..." earning a chuckle from Tony. Steve cleared his throat. "What I am trying to say is that she's more likely to trust you to talk to you than to us. Plus you're the only one who can speak Russian here."

"I agree with Steve. You just have to stop being as scary as usual." joked Clint. Nat glanced at him with a look that could kill. "That's what I'm talking about !" Said Clint while backing up a little bit.

"Alright I will. J.A.R.V.I.S. please let me know when she wakes up." announced Nat.

"Of course Miss Romanoff. I will." replied J.A.R.V.I.S.

With that, the whole team leaves the room. But only Steve and Nat are really worried about the kid. Steve doesn't understand why she would do that and feels guilty about it. While Nat thinks she already knows why and that's what is worrying her. Both of them know they want to help her.
