No one's pov

After a few minutes of thinking, Fury decided not to inform the Avengers about the encounter with one of the agents. Since, according to the report of their discussion that Agent Bertelsen had written, nothing suspicious had been said, there was no point in worrying the Avengers for nothing. Fury doesn't want to instill any more stress and pressure on them. While Stark and Romanoff continue to close in on her, the others must find information about Hydra and the Winter Soldier. They can't afford to waste any more time.

2 weeks later

The Avengers are debriefing Director Fury and Agent Hill.

"Anything new to share?" asked Fury, "Agent Romanoff? Stark?"

"Nothing special, we continued to have meals with Y/n and Tony would sometimes go there for the sole purpose of chatting or playing with her. So far she's shown no hostility, but remains cautious and on the lookout nonetheless." replied Natasha.

"What do you mean by 'on the lookout'? Steve asked.

"From the moment we pass the door step, not of her cell but the door step of the entire room, her gaze freezes on us and analyzes us from head to toe and follows us until we enter her cell and then until we leave the room." explained agent Romanoff. "But as I said before, her gaze shows no hostility. Nor her posture, for that matter. Everything about her shows that she's in analysis not to defend or attack but to understand and remember."

"You mean she's studying us?" cut in Bruce.

"In a certain sense yes, I think she's probably trying to understand her place here and who we are. She's probably wondering why people are constantly watching her and why only a few particular people come to talk to her. Whether she trusts us or not, I can't say. But, I anticipate your request Stark, it's still too early to take her out and give her more freedom, however, I think it would be nice to grant her an outing in the fresh air as well as a trip to the gym. Of course, she'd be under constant supervision." proposed Natasha.

"Indeed, I was going to propose that she be given the chance to stay in a better room now, but I haven't forgotten past events and I understand your caution Romanoff. I'll second your request, then," says Tony.

"Are you sure it won't be too dangerous?" asked Thor, who had returned.

Everyone began to think. The first to speak was Bruce.

"If we leave her collar and electronic bracelets on, I think that should do it. Then we could also take the opportunity to test her, see if she's gotten stronger or give her opportunities to attack us by planning a defense ourselves just in case."

"It's not a bad idea, but we'll still have to be vigilant. I want Rogers, Banner and Thor with her as soon as she comes out, ready to act if necessary. And of course Stark you'll accompany her on her outings and Romanoff you'll go with her to the gym. You mustn't lose the connections you have with her. The others will always be there to warn of any threats," ordered Fury.

No one objected to his order, so Fury nodded contentedly.

"Right, Banner and Stark, how far have you got with finding a way to get Agent Ivanov back without Death Giver resurfacing?" asked Fury.

"Nothing very conclusive. I'm not sure there's really a solution, it's a bit like hypnosis but powerful hypnosis that they've been setting up in her mind for weeks. To be able to undo it, we'd have to know how they did it, by what means, and then potentially use the same thing again, but the other way around." Bruce explained.
