Ace was somewhat cautious about leaving the girls downstairs with the other boys but she knew they could handle themselves. She allowed herself to sit calmly down on Ace's bed as he flopped down beside her, lying on his back, hands behind his head.

"So how come I get the pleasure of you with upstairs?" She asked, caution flowing through her still.

He shrugged slightly, gently shutting his eyes.

"Can't be dealing with sharing a room with them and your girls seem to have taken a shine to Billy and Eyeball so I weren't hearing no complaints."

The female nodded slowly as she gently lay down on the bed next to Ace. He opened his eyes and turned his head to face her, she smiled softly as she faced him.

"Well I hate to say, their hearts will break when we find the necklace." She mumbled quietly.

"Why?" He asked.

Ace's smile disappeared as she looked down slightly.

"We're leaving once we find it."

Ace Merrill felt a low pang in his stomach.

"Yeah but you can always come back."

She looked back up at him.

"Yeah you can take the necklace back to whoever then you could.." he trailed off slightly before shrugging. "You know, come back."

She avoided his eye contact as she looked back down, sighing slightly.

"It's doesn't work like that Ace." She whispered.

"Why not?"

She sighed again and gently nudged her head back into the mattress, her fingers twiddling across her stomach.

"It just doesn't." She answered, avoiding telling him the truth. There was no way she could tell him the truth.

"You could stay though. We could use some female cobras and hey you're halfway there." He said with a small laugh as he removed his hands from behind his head and gently stroked the snake going around her arm, softly allowing his fingers to trail over her skin as well.

"As I said. I'll be breaking their hearts when we find the necklace."

"Eyeball and Billy's or Seven and Diamond's?"

Ace paused as she looked down at her fingers twiddling together. Ace stopped stroking her arm and used all his mental force to stop himself from reaching over and taking her hand in his.

"Potentially all four. The girls know the rules though, they're not to get involved when we have a job to do." She mumbled, still focusing on her fingers.

"And what about you?" Courage flowed through Ace as he asked.

She tilted her head to look up at him as their eyes locked.

"What do you mean, what about me?" She asked in a whisper.

"What's your rule about getting involved?" He whispered back after a seconds pause.

He took this moment to move his hand to her side. She glanced down at it before back at his eyes, that matched hers in every way.

"It's best for the males if I don't."

He gave her a confused look so she continued.

"I hurt them. I hurt them before they can hurt me. Always have. Always will."

"Really?" For some unknown reason he was desperate for her to open up to him, he wanted to know every little secret she held, not to use against her though. He wanted to help her.
