Reginald 'Pops' Merrill was officially classed as missing under suspicious circumstances. Every officer in Portland knew he was involved in gang warfare yet they also knew of his nephew, John 'Ace' Merrill over in Castle Rock.
Lux Winslet had been begging her CO to give her a good case. As the only female police officer in Portland, she always felt like she had to prove she deserved her badge.
As no other officer wanted the 'Merrill' case she finally got her wish. Tasked with going to Castle Rock to gather intel on Ace himself, she gets more than she expected when she comes face to face with the cobra.
