"Time to eat!" Mei walked out of the kitchen with a smile on her face as she held two plates in her hands. One had chicken fried rice and the other had noodles with fried shrimps on them. She posed the two plates on the table as she turned around towards the living to look at the two males sitting on the sofas.
"Yay!" Chen Xue excitedly ran towards the dining table. He pulled a chair and crawled on it on his own although he was only 4 years old.
"Smells good." Xiao Lei spoke with a soft sneer on his lips as he put his hands in his pockets and headed towards the dining table as well.
"Mhm... you guys sit. I'm going get the bowls and chopsticks." Mei said as she brushed some hair behind her ear.
"Alright." Lei and Xue said at the same time.
They both glared at each other with killing vibes and turned away to each side.
Lei took the seat in the face of Xue and sat waiting for Mei to come back.Mei came back with three bowls and chopsticks and put them on the table. She put one in front of Xue, Lei and her. She sat beside Xue.
"Eat up."
"Mommy, eat too." Xue put some noddles and shrimps on her bowl.
"Alright baby." She chuckled as started eating.
Xiao Lei couldn't fit in the mother-son discussion so he just shut up for the whole dinner time. After dinner, Lei sat on the sofa and turned on the tv to watch a movie.
Xue grabbed the remote and changed the channel to a kid's cartoon. He smirked at him, showing off it was his house and not Lei's.
Lei couldn't help but chuckle. It was just cute to see a little boy trying his best to push away every man that wanted his mother.
'Oh come to think of it, she is 26, right?"Lei's phone vibrated. It was a text message from his mother. He switched off his phone with a frown on his face.
Xue, who had notice thought he shouldn't tease him anymore for the night until he leaves that is.
-A while later-
Mei, Xue and Lei were laid on the bed!
'How did it end up like this?!' Mei sighed as she glanced towards Xue who was hugged her arm tightly.-A while ago-
"Xiao Lei, you should get going then," Mei said sitting on the sofa as she put Xue on her lap.
"Ah... can I stay?" The man slowly landed closer towards her face.
Mei gazed into his eyes for a few minutes straight. She then blinked and looked away.
"Why? Did your house burn?" She sarcastically asked him. She yawned putting her hand to cover her mouth.
"Kind of like that," Lei said as his eyes showed how much he didn't want to go home. He was almost begging for it.
"Sigh. Alright. Anyways I think mom and dad won't come home since they went to very old friends' party." Mei allowed it as she couldn't confront the man for too long. "But, you better not disturb my or Xue'er's sleep." She added a condition he had to accept.
"Sure, sure." He spoke with a soft grin on his lips.-Back to present-
'How am I supposed to sleep?!' Mei screamed interiorly as she was panicking. She hasn't slept with guys after Chen Rui's death. But now she was sleeping with one and with Xue too!
'Will Xue think bad of me?..' She thought with a drained look on her face.Xiao Lei was observing Mei who had her back turned towards him. He then noticed her change of expressions each second. He chuckled softly without making a noise as the child was sleeping. He wasn't allowed to disturb their sleep, so he couldn't help it.
Xiao Lei got up and sat on the bed.
"Not sleeping?" Mei asked from behind making Lei flinch.
"Umm yeah. And you?" He questioned with a low voice to not wake up Chen Xue.
"Can't sleep." She spoke with a low voice.
Mei also sat up on the bed and looked at Lei who had the same position as her.
"Why didn't you want to go home?" She asked him.
"Ah... my mom was being annoying again." He sighed.
"Do you have a bad relationship with her?" She raised an eyebrow surprised. She thought he had an amazing family from the rumours so how come?
"Let's say that."
"Don't you have any girlfriend?" Mei asked out of nowhere.
"Huh? But you're my girlfriend?" He chuckled.
"No. I'm serious. You really have no one you love or anything?"
"I have no one." He spoke with a sad gaze that locked into her violet eyes. She gulped as her heartbeat increased and she shivered.
'What is this?..' She wondered as she slowly reached her hand towards her chest.
"Chen Mei. Do you love someone?" Lei asked, freezing the woman in front of him.
She didn't utter a word for the next five minutes. A huge silence dominated the room and Lei couldn't dare to break it. It was as if everything would break if he broke that silence.
"I do." She simply said.
"Who?"
"My... ex-husband." She replied with a faint smile. Her eyes were filled with emptiness yet there was so much love when she said the word husband.
Lei felt slightly jealous. He wished he was the man she loved so much. But he wouldn't leave her like her husband. On the contrary, he would give her the whole world. Everything she would want and treat her like a queen."Don't feel sorry for me," Mei said with a firm tone. "I'm strong. Thanks to him also." She laughed sarcastically but Lei didn't find it funny.
He got up from the bed turned around it and reached Mei's side. He slowly approached her face and stared into her eyes as if he was trying to read her whole mind and soul.
She blinked fast as some tears we're appearing.
Xiao Lei frowned and wiped the tears before they fell with both of his thumbs. He pressed his thumb tenderly on her eyes and softly kissed her lips.Mei was shocked by his actions. She couldn't move at all. Her eyes were forcefully closed so she couldn't see him coming closer to her.
'His lips somehow feel warm and soft...' She thought as she slowly returned the kiss. After making out for a minute, Mei came back to her senses and pushed Lei away.
"W-what the..." She muttered as her hands reached her mouth. She slowly rubbed her lips with her fingers as they began to tremble.
"I kissed him?!.." She mumbled as tears started dropping from her eyes. She felt like she had cheated on Rui and couldn't forgive herself anymore. She swore to stay loyal but what the hell was going on with her? Xiao Lei was just another man whose sincerity she was checking but why couldn't she avoid him like others?"H-hey... what..." Lei scratched her head confused as hell. He didn't know what to do or why she began crying. Although it was Mei who was sobbing, it was him who felt hurt.
He sighed and wrapped his long arms around her softly as he pat her back to comfort her.
"Don't cry. I'm sorry. You can slap me if you want. But please, don't cry. It hurts me too..." He slowly muttered against her ear.
Mei kept crying in his arms. It was all the tears she had been holding for the past four years...
