First Doesn't Mean Last

Hao Yixuan

-At the Xiao mansion-

"Xuan'er, you're back!" Xiao Hua hugged the young woman entering the house.
"I'm back, aunty!" She replied as she hugged her back.
"Grandpa Gong, I'm back," Yixuan said as she glanced at the old man sitting on the sofa indifferently.
"Oh, good, I suppose," Gong replied with a cold tone.
Yixuan's face changed just as soon she understood Gong had no intention of showing her any affection.

"Take her luggage in the guest room," Hua ordered the servants who were near her. They nodded and took the luggage from Yixuan's bodyguards heading towards the guest room.

"Sit on the sofa. I'll go call Lei to come home as soon as possible." Hua said with a grin on her face. "He'll be glad to know his fiancée is back from aboard."
Yixuan nodded and sat on the sofa slightly far from Gong.

Hua took her phone and dialled Lei's number.
Lei took his phone out of his pockets as he heard or ringing.
"Hello?"
"Lei'er. Yixuan is back. Come and meet her."
"Mom. I'm busy." He replied coldly. "She's not a child that needs me to babysit her. I'll be home late. Tell her I can't meet her today."
"Lei'er! She's your fiancee!" Hua shouted.
"She's like a sister to me." Lei hung up immediately after.
"Xiao Lei!" Hua yelled but the call was cut before that. Hence, no heard her voice on the other side of the phone.

Hua left out a sigh of space from her mouth as she walked towards Yixuan.
"Sorry, my son is still immature."
"No, aunty. It's not your fault. He's young. Let him enjoy." Yixuan replied with a smirk on her face.
Hua nodded in agreement.

However, Gong frowned and glanced at the two females sitting on the sofa along with him.
"So are you, Xuan. Don't act like you've become a perfect young woman," he said with a mocking smirk.
Yixuan frowned after hearing his words.
'Just wait until I get married to Lei'er. You will know what hell means!'

"How has your acting been? I heard you won the best actress award aboard." Hua changed the subject quickly.
"Oh yes. I wanted to tell you all face-to-face but it turns out you knew from the news."

Although Hao Yixuan is the young princess of the Hao family, she loved acting. She was always first in the acting department. The entertainment industry of the XIAO Z decided to send her aboard for the best actress award that took place in France. All actresses from different parts of the world participated. Among them all, the winner was Hao Yixuan.

-At the engagement hall-

Lei searched for the woman he kept meeting like it was fate but couldn't find her. He suddenly felt an arm wrapping his shoulder as he turned on the side to look who it might be.
A man with black clothes and black hair was next to him. It was one of his business partners who was sticking to him. Lei frowned and pushed his hand away as he left the banquet hall.
"What's up with you today, man?" He wondered as he raised an eyebrow.
Usually, he would just laugh and joke around. He just changed all of a sudden. No one around him could understand him anymore.

Mei returned home with Tian and Xue. She opened the door with her keys as she saw Chen Zi and Chen Fei already inside waiting for her.

"Mother, father, you're back already?" Meissner as she put Xue down from her arms and the kid rushed to his grandfather's lap. The middle-aged man picked up the kid and smiled.

"Yes, we are." Zi patted the place to her as a sign for Mei to come and sit beside her.
Mei understood and walked towards the sofa after removing her shoes.
Tian followed her and sat next to Fei.
"How was it, the engagement?" Zi asked as she pats Mei's shoulder softly.
"Child, I know it's hard. But thanks for coming for Daiyu's sake." Fei smiled while playing with Xue.
"It's okay. She's my family. Just like my little sister. You guys are all I have left anyways. I'll do anything for you." Mei replied instantly.

"Sister. I will protect you no matter what. So don't force yourself." Tian said with a frown on his face. He hates how his little sister lost all her joy after Rui's death and how Xue only has his mother. He wants to protect them at any cost.

Mei giggled and stood up.
"Thanks, brother but I'm strong." She walked to her room to get changed.
"Mei'er. Can you do us a favour? Xiao Gong wanted to discuss the contract with you. He's also our dead friend's father..." Fei's voice lower as he talked about Zhian's death.
Mei nodded. "Let me get changed. This is too much for a casual meeting for business."

After a few minutes, Mei came downstairs wearing casual clothes for work. She wore a white top with long sleeves and a black skirt that reached her knees.
"I'll be back as soon as possible but if I'm late, please feed Xue and put him to sleep," Mei asked her family as they modder with a smile. She smiled in returned and put black heels on as she opened them to go outside the mansion. She then opened her car's door to go inside her car. She took out her keys and started the car headed to the Xiao family's mansion.

Mei arrived at the Xiao mansion. The house was very big, just as much as the Chen's.
It was a bright white colour. The place was clean and elegant, maybe just like the people living inside. The gate was closed.
When Mei's car came in, the guards asked for her identity.
"I'm a worker at the CHin industry. K came to discuss the contract."
"I'll go ask the master." One of the guards rushed inside and came back after a few minutes, screaming.
"OPEN THE DOOR!"
The other we're confused but opened it fast. Mei entered with her car and parked it in front of the entry door.
The door was opened so she entered. She saw an old man reading a newspaper with tea in his other hand.
