"Eat this, mommy."
"Eat this, Chen Mei."
The two males gave Mei's friend shrimps on her plate. She blinked for a few seconds, then sighed.
"You eat. I can eat on my own!" She took the two shrimps with her chopsticks and ate them at the same time.
'Ah. This is crazy.' Mei recalled what happened an hour earlier.

-An hour ago-

"Shall we continue our date? If it is one." Lei spoke with a smirk on his lips.
"Yes, mommy! Let's continue. I want to eat. I'm hungry." Xue said excitedly since his stomach was growling.
"Let's eat something nearby." Mei looked around for a small shop that sells food.
"Let's have lunch in a better place, shall we? The child might get a stomachache if he eats food sold in the streets." Lei suggested.
Mei grimaced as she glanced at the male. "My son, I decide."
She walked towards a little shop that was making food. She took some Jiaozi* and bought it back with her.
(*Jiaozi means dumplings)

She gave it to Xue to eat.
The kid's face didn't look good after the sight of the food.
"Mommy... Are we so poor we can't afford to lunch in a restaurant anymore?" He sighed not taking the dumpling from Mei's hand.
"Your dad used to like it tho." She frowned with a soft pout.
"I don't want this mommy!"
The young woman didn't have a choice but to follow Lei's suggestion.

-Back to present-

"Sigh." Mei let out a deep breath escape from her mouth. She kept checking her golden watch to see what time is it. She couldn't bear to stay with this man anymore!

"Why are you sighing?" The man in question asked. His deep yet soft voice felt so good to hear, it made her heartbeat quite fast.
"None of your business." She coldly said.
"How old are you?" He asked.
"It's impolite to ask someone's age!" Xue yelled at the young man who was shocked.
"Kid, who do you think you are to say this to me? I made your mom bring you here or else you would have eaten that rotten food of the streets!" He exclaimed, causing Xue to get angry. But Mei got angrier and frowned. She pushed the chair as she stood up abruptly.

"Xue, let's get going." Mei pulled her kid's hand as she started to walk out of the restaurant.
"Chen Mei!" Xiao Lei ran towards her in a few seconds to catch up with her.
Mei stopped and looked back at the male.
"What?"
"Won't you give me a chance?" He asked with a pitiful face. "I swear I never felt like this for anyone before... I just want to be with you all the time. I can't stop thinking about you. It's driving me crazy!" He looked at her with a pained smile on his face. "Please?" He was begging her to give him a chance. Such a bright man begging to her, putting down their ego, that's a first for Mei to watch.

Mei grinned and let go of Xue's hand to slowly touch Lei's cheeks with both of her hands. "We shall see then. Let's date."
"What?! For real? You're not joking?!" The man's face brighten up as he got excited like a cute puppy that finally got what he wanted.
Mei nodded with a soft sneer on her face. "See you." She walked away to her car and drove away.

"Oh wait! How do I go back now?!" Lei finally realized his car was still at the Chen mansion's parking lot. He sighed and took out his phone from his pocket.
"Hey, come and pick me up."
"Why? Did your car broke down?" A male voice asked sarcastically.
"Dude, it's in the parking lot of someone's house. Come here, now!" He angrily yelled and hung up the call.

-Inside the car-

"Mommy, are you actually going to be with him?" Xue asked with a faint voice. He wasn't happy with his mother's decision. He does want her to be happy, but he can't forget the moment he saw him entering the bar with another woman in his arms. He was afraid his mother would suffer because of a worthless man.

"Baby, you know me. I'm just testing him." The young mother replied with a soft grin on her lips. "Don't worry, I won't fall for a playboy like him." She stated firmly.
"Good then!" Xue got relieved and sighed.

Around 6 pm, a black luxurious car came in front of the gates of the Chen mansion.
"Who are you?" The guard asked as he raised an eyebrow.
"I'm Xiao Lei," Lei replied holding the sterling. "Open the door." He ordered, but the guards refused.
"I said to!—" Lei stopped talking as he saw Mei coming out of the house.
"Chen Mei!" The man yelled loudly to make sure she heard him.
The female came towards him with a frown on her face.
"What are you doing here?"
"I came to get back my car." The man replied with a smile on his face.
"Oh, alright." She turned around and stopped a little further. "Let him in." She ordered the guards as she went back to her car. She went inside and started the engine.
Lei drove into the parking lot after the guards opened the gate as Mei drove beside him, going out of the place.
"So~ this is my future sister-in-law?" A male with light brown hair stood out of the car. He was just as tall as Lei but 1-2 cm shorter. He glanced his blue eyes at Lei who watched Mei driving away as he came out of the vehicle.
"Hmm." Lei hummed as his best friend talked. "I don't know. She won't even bat an eye at me." The male sighed as he leaned against the black car's front door.
"Oh~ it's fun when it's hard to get though." The brown-haired male sneered as he took his french accent.

Lei laughed and walked towards his car while holding the keys in his hand.
Just then, he felt something grabbing his pants. The male looked down, it was Chen Xue.
"Hey, what are you doing here , kid?"
The little boy was holding a stuffed lion toy in his hands. He looked up at the man, not like a cute boy but an aggressive one.
"You better f*ck off from my mommy!" He yelled with a frown on his lovely face.
"Wow, wow. Since when does such a young boy curse like that?" Lei raised an eyebrow as he knelt down to match Xue's height more.
"None of your business," Xue replied with a cold tone.

Lei recalled Mei after hearing that. He could see her through this child, so he couldn't think Xue wasn't her real son. 'But why does she refuse to get married again? Her husband left her because of another woman? Or did he cheat on her? Well, it's the same...' Lei was confused on why this mother and son wanted to hang on to a man that has abandoned them.

"Where's your dad? I want to meet him." Lei spoke after finally deciding to meet the man in question.
"M-my dad... he..." Xue was at loss for words. He didn't know how to say that his father is dead. He took a back step, then another, and kept going until something hit against him. It was the legs of someone. He turned around to see his mother. The kid had a teardrop falling from his eyes.
"Mommy!" The child quickly hugged her legs.

Mei picked up her kid and looked at Lei with a frown.
"How could you talk to a child about this?!" She yelled at him as she stepped closer to him.
"I just wanted to meet his dad. Both of you are so locked up in him that I thought that I should meet him at least. Maybe try to help you guys get back together? You never know." Lei said as he stood up again. He couldn't understand any of them. Protecting a man that had left them and is hurting them even after that.
